Rainy-day cream shrimp and jjamppong at Marine City Chinese: Bueokgan
In short
Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch is an ocean-view Chinese restaurant on the 2nd floor of a building in Marine City, Haeundae, Busan, looking out over Dongbaekseom Island. After a favorite Chinese restaurant in Gwangalli closed, the writer found Bueokgan Chinese again in Marine City and, on a day of on-and-off rain, ordered jalapeño cream shrimp, ganjajang (dry-fried black bean noodles) with a poached egg and seafood jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup). Even under cloudy skies, the sea, Dongbaekseom and yachts showed through the floor-to-ceiling windows, and all three dishes were finished to the last bite.

There used to be a Chinese restaurant in Gwangalli that I absolutely loved. I got the chance to visit through a great opportunity and it was seriously SO good. So I'd go back sometimes, and even took friends visiting Busan there as a must-try spot — but then it closed down ㅠㅠㅠㅠ It was really that good ㅠ But then I found out it's actually in Marine City near Gwangalli?!!! Let me introduce Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch, a Haeundae restaurant with an ocean view of Dongbaekseom :)

Inside Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch and the private rooms
When you take the elevator up, the restaurant entrance is right there. Once you step inside, there's a sink on the left where you can wash your hands, so you can eat with peace of mind about cleanliness!

Through the floor-to-ceiling windows you could fully take in Dongbaekseom and the sea, and the interior was so spacious it could easily seat a large group. There were also pretty lights by the window, so it was great for photos too :)

There are also private rooms, which make it a great spot for gatherings :)

Can you see the ocean view even on a rainy day?
Through the floor-to-ceiling windows at Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch, you can see the sea, Dongbaekseom and yachts even on a cloudy day. It was in-and-out rainy, gloomy weather so the photos look a bit hazy, but in person the wide-open ocean view, the lush green of Dongbaekseom, and the yachts were all really lovely to see👍
Basic side dishes
The basic side dishes at Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch are jasai (pickled mustard tuber) and danmuji (pickled radish), and if you need more, just ask the staff :)

The three dishes we ordered at Bueokgan Chinese
At Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch we ordered three dishes: jalapeño cream shrimp, poached-egg ganjajang, and seafood jjamppong. Let me show you each one in detail below!
Jalapeño cream shrimp ₩22,000

The jalapeño cream shrimp is a dish of crispy fried shrimp tossed with a tangy cream sauce and spicy jalapeño. The jalapeño cuts through what could otherwise be a heavy, rich cream flavor, so it all came together nicely👍

Poached-egg ganjajang ₩10,000

The poached-egg ganjajang is Bueokgan Chinese's best menu item, featuring big, generous chunks of smoky, fire-charred five-layer pork belly. Break the poached egg and mix it all together — so, so good👍
Seafood jjamppong ₩18,000
The seafood jjamppong is loaded with a variety of seafood like squid, octopus, shrimp and mussels. It was neither too spicy nor bland — just right👍
Cleared the plates again today~♡
Restroom
The restrooms at Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch are right to the left as soon as you get off the elevator, separated by gender. The building seemed to keep them very clean :)
