Korean BBQ in Gwangalli with a room for two: 400g French rack, Donbegi
In short
Donbegi Gwang-an Branch (돈베기 광안점) is an aged-pork Korean BBQ restaurant in Millak-dong, Suyeong, Busan, a 10-minute walk from Gwangalli Beach, and it welcomes pets. On a second visit with a boyfriend, the writer ordered a 400g French rack aged over 480 hours (à la carte), galchi sokjeot rice (rice with salted hairtail innards) and a doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) made spicier, and the Donbegi staff grilled everything from start to finish. Apart from slightly salty galchi sokjeot rice, the room for two and the option of wine made Donbegi Gwang-an Branch a satisfying date spot.

Donbegi Gwang-an Branch: hours and parking
Donbegi Gwang-an Branch is a Gwangalli pork belly favorite and Gwangalli BBQ restaurant. It is open 12:00–23:30, with last order at 23:00. Parking is possible too.

It's a 10-minute walk from Gwangalli Beach, and pets are welcome! This was already my second visit, so it's a Millak-dong BBQ place I trust.
There's no dedicated parking lot, but if you park at the officetel right in front, the restaurant covers 2 hours of parking. Worth knowing if you're looking for a Gwangalli restaurant with parking!

Is Donbegi Gwang-an Branch good for a date?
The interior is wood-toned, like a mountain lodge! It's clean and tidy, so there are lots of couples on dates, and it's also a nice place for a family meal.
🍷Wine pairing and corkage available🍷 With shoulder rack, French rack and other cuts aged 480 hours, I thought it would go really well with wine.

What we ordered on the second visit
- Aged French rack
- Galchi sokjeot rice (rice with salted cutlassfish innards)
- Doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew)
We'd had the French rack on our first visit, and I kept thinking about it, so we ordered it again, haha. We got it à la carte, but you can also order a set, and there's a wide choice of meal dishes too.

Naver receipt review perk
If you write a Naver receipt review at Donbegi Gwang-an Branch, you can pick one of cold kimchi kalguksu (noodle soup), cold soba, hot-pot kalguksu, myeongran (pollock roe) rice or pork skin. I've never seen such a generous review perk,,✨️ It's really simple, so do it!

Side dishes and scallion salad at Donbegi Gwang-an Branch
The side dishes were set out around a hexagonal grill.

Myeongran, white kimchi, spicy pepper paste and more. All of them are rice thieves, and they went well with the meat too!

And the scallion salad (pajeolim)! I usually skip it because I don't like the smell of scallions, but the staff said it was delicious and told me to try it, and it really was👍🏻 My boyfriend also said Donbegi's scallion salad is definitely something different!

480-hour aged French rack, 400g: how did it taste?
This is the French rack we ordered. It looks like a tomahawk steak🥩 You order it in 400g units (that's the amount in the photo), and maybe because it's aged over 480 hours, it's really tender for how thick the meat is!

The staff grilled everything for us from start to finish, so it was so easy to enjoy☺️ Recommended if you're looking for a Gwangalli BBQ place where they grill for you!

The French rack lets you eat five cuts at once. I can only tell pork neck from pork belly, and the cut in the photo had a texture similar to pork neck! It's mild but juicy, and it went well simply with salt or wasabi.

Next up, pork belly🫶🏻 Personally, I liked the pork belly even more! The skin was still attached, so it was like ogeopsal (five-layer pork belly), and that rich, nutty fat flavor, I mean, come on,,🤦🏻♀️

For the ogeopsal, I recommend the white kimchi and myeongran combo!

Galchi sokjeot rice or myeongran rice: which to pick?
Last time I ordered the myeongran rice, but since Donbegi Gwang-an Branch already has myeongran among the side dishes, if you can't decide between the two, I'd recommend the galchi sokjeot rice. That said, either the salted fish was just salty or they put in a lot, because it was a little salty for my taste!

Still, it was delicious eaten together with the meat!

How spicy is the doenjang jjigae?
The doenjang jjigae at Donbegi Gwang-an Branch has 5 spice levels, and we asked for spicy. I think it was about level 4. For someone who can't handle spice it was very hot, but it was that kick that kept me going back for more🌶🌶

It was packed with ingredients, and I felt like I could finish a bowl of rice with just the jjigae.
They even offer fabric deodorizer spray on the way out, a nice touch👍🏻

Would I recommend Donbegi Gwang-an Branch for a date?
Staff grill everything from start to finish, and you get a 2-person room where you can also have wine, so it was great for a date. If you're looking for Gwangalli BBQ, a Gwangalli pork belly favorite or a Millak-dong BBQ place, I recommend Donbegi☺️🤍
