Myeongji, Busan seafood jjim near POSCO for a dinner date: Haemullae
In short
Haemullae (해물래) is a newly opened restaurant specializing in stone-plate seafood bone jjim (braised seafood and pork neck bones), near POSCO in Myeongji International New City, Gangseo, Busan. On a dinner date with her boyfriend, the writer ordered the 2-person stone-plate seafood bone jjim, piled with abalone, shrimp, squid and pork neck bones. The portion was so big that the fried rice finish went uneaten, and the owner kindly topped up the broth. With a clean, tidy atmosphere and generous portions, Haemullae is worth recommending for both dates and group dinners.

Where is Haemullae and what kind of restaurant is it?
Haemullae (해물래) is a newly opened stone-plate seafood bone jjim (steamed seafood and pork bone dish) restaurant near the POSCO building in Myeongji International New City, Gangseo, Busan. It's open Mon–Fri 16:00–22:00 and Sat 11:00–22:00, closed every Sunday, with underground parking in the building and Naver reservations available :)

It's the hot new place in Myeongji these days! Every time I walked past there were crowds, so I'd been curious, and not long ago I finally went with my boyfriend for a dinner date.

Is Haemullae a good group dinner spot in Myeongji?
Myeongji International New City has lots of good restaurants and bars, so many people come here for group dinners and eating out. The building has underground parking, so there's no parking stress.
Haemullae also takes group reservations, so I'd recommend booking if you're coming with a big group. It's great for company dinners and get-togethers.

Haemullae's atmosphere and how to order
Inside, Haemullae was really clean and the mood was so nice. It's a good date spot too, I'd say. And the owner was kindness itself!
You order on the tablet at each table.

What comes in Haemullae's stone-plate seafood bone jjim?
Haemullae's stone-plate seafood bone jjim is abalone, squid, shrimp and pork neck bones tossed in a special sauce and served on a stone plate. Because it's a stone plate, it stays warm from start to finish.

On the menu, you can pick the stone-plate seafood bone jjim for 2 to 4 people depending on your group. There are also side dishes to go with it.
- Spicy monkfish & chips
- Spicy fried monkfish (karaage)
- Whole fried shrimp
- Fried squid
- Extra bones
- Fried rice

Choosing mild, medium-spicy or spicy
You can choose mild, medium-spicy or spicy for the stone-plate seafood bone jjim. The set comes with fried squid, abalone, shrimp, squid and neck bones.

If you join the review event, you get one ice cream per person.

What sauces and banchan does Haemullae serve?
For first-timers, Haemullae has a guide to eating it the tastiest way, so check it out. The bangah (Korean mint) chimichurri sauce was so new to me, such a fun twist. They said they make the sauce themselves.

The banchan (side dishes) include white kimchi, potato salad, cabbage salad, corn and pickled radish. You also get yubu chobap (rice in sweet fried tofu pouches), one per person.

You get a special wasabi soy sauce and the bangah chimichurri sauce, and they're total game-changers, so definitely dip everything in them!

Is the 2-person stone-plate seafood bone jjim enough for two?
Our 2-person stone-plate seafood bone jjim arrived. You set a 5-minute timer, then turn off the heat and eat.

It's for two people, but the portion was seriously huge. The look of all that seafood piled on the stone plate with the pork bone jjim was amazing.

With abalone, shrimp and squid piled on, I couldn't wait to dig in.

I dipped everything in the sauces as the guide suggested, and I just kept eating.

Halfway through, it tasted like it was begging for somaek (soju mixed with beer)! I'd recommend this as a group dinner spot in Myeongji.
Tender pork neck bones, bean sprouts and extra broth
The pork bone jjim in Haemullae's stone-plate seafood bone jjim was really tender. It was so soft that the meat came off the bone easily.

Can you see the size of that meat?!..
Eating it with the bean sprouts was so good, and when the broth ran low, the owner poured in more. You're supposed to finish with fried rice, but!.. I was so full I couldn't. The portion is really, really big. Next time I'll come back and definitely have the fried rice too.
Who should try Haemullae in Myeongji?
Thanks to its special menu and generous portions, I'm planning to visit Haemullae in Myeongji again. I recommend it for company dinners, family meals and dates, and everything from the atmosphere to the friendly service was good. If you're looking for a good restaurant in Myeongji, try the stone-plate seafood bone jjim at Haemullae!
