How were the packaging and the smell on opening?
I received the Ieum Seasoned Premium Tripe and Large Intestine Set (200g) and cooked it at home. My first impression when it arrived was that the packaging was neat.

It arrived in chilled fresh packaging and was double-wrapped so the contents would not leak. It felt as though it had stayed hygienic during delivery, too.

There was hardly any of the characteristic off smell when I opened it, so it made a good first impression.
Can you cook it straight away without extra prep?
Preparing and grilling large intestine at home can feel daunting from the trimming stage, but this product came both trimmed and seasoned. I liked being able to cook it right away without any separate washing or cutting with scissors.

How was it finished with a torch after pan-cooking?
You can cook it in a frying pan alone, but I cooked it in the pan first and finished it with a torch.

First, I cooked it slowly over low heat in the pan to render out the fat. Just as the outside turned golden, I lightly charred the surface with the torch.

Using the torch added a smoky flame-grilled aroma that reminded me of grilled meat at a restaurant. The outside was crisp while the inside stayed juicy, and I loved that textural contrast.

What were the premium tripe texture and seasoning like?
I thought the premium tripe might be tough, but it was fairly tender when I tried it. The more I chewed, the more I could taste its rich, nutty fat, and the seasoning was not overly intense.
There was not an excessive amount of fat left in the pan after cooking, so cleanup was easier than I expected. The smell did not linger for long either, making indoor cooking less of a burden. Next time, I would like to stir-fry it with vegetables.

Rather than simply tasting sweet or salty, the seasoning centered on savoriness, so it also went well as a side dish with rice. It did not feel excessively greasy, and eating it with lettuce or perilla leaves made for a nice balance.

What I especially liked was the torch's smoky flavor added to the seasoned large intestine. The surface was crisp while the inside remained juicy.

That smoky flavor and texture made home-grilled meat feel a little like something from a specialty restaurant.

What kind of meal is 200g suitable for?
For me, 200g was a good amount as a snack with a drink alone, and it was also enough for two people to have a light meal. I tend to find the price of premium tripe and large intestine at restaurants burdensome, so I felt very satisfied with the value for being able to get this level of flavor at home.

It was a product I would like to buy again because there was little prep involved and the seasoning was not overpowering. In the way I cooked it, the extra smoky aroma from finishing with a torch was especially memorable. Since it is so easy to prepare, I think it could work for camping or a housewarming menu, too.
