Yeoyejeong (여여정) is a meat restaurant in Seomyeon, Yangyang, on the way to Sol Beach Yangyang if you take the Yangyang Expressway. Last weekend I started our Yangyang trip with a Yeoyejeong lunch special. I go to Yangyang about twice a year. Compared to Jeju it's closer to Seoul, and the sea is so pretty. When I go I stay at Sol Beach Yangyang, and Yeoyejeong, with its great-value lunch special, sits right on the way.

Yeoyejeong meat pot rice (₩13,000): fluffy rice my child fell for

For ₩13,000 the meat pot rice comes with pot rice, marinated pork and cabbage soup. It was our first order, and the fluffy rice served in the pot really impressed me. It's so good that since that day my child has been asking me to make pot rice every day. The price is just over ₩10,000, yet the set feels really generous.

The rice was truly fluffy, with a chewy texture in the mouth that stood out. Because of this pot rice, my child wants to go back to Yeoyejeong and says we should stop by on every trip. That's how good the rice is. A piece of marinated galbi on tasty pot rice with some chives is really satisfying.

It was lunchtime and I considered ordering meat to grill, but I went with the lunch special, and it was also great for eating simply and getting to the resort check-in quickly. A meal someone else prepares is always delicious.

Nurungji (scorched rice) tea: the best part of pot rice

The charm of pot rice is, of course, the scorched rice. At Yeoyejeong the scorched rice stuck to the pot is turned into sungnyung (scorched-rice tea), and it was so nutty. Can't you feel the toasty flavor just from the video?

Here's a close-up of the meat. I love chive salad with marinated meat, so this set was perfect for me. They say chives are good for the blood, and they pair so well with meat. Freshly tossed, crunchy chives with the meat made it even tastier.

Yeoyejeong meat cold noodles (₩13,000): ask for the sauce on the side

The Yeoyejeong meat cold noodles are a ₩13,000 lunch special: mul naengmyeon (cold broth noodles) served with meat. Cold noodles with meat is the summer combo, after all. This day I ordered the noodles. They're green, so I think there's green tea powder in them. The springy noodles and the icy broth go together so well. The owner thoughtfully gave us wasabi too, to put in the noodles.

I asked for Yeoyejeong's special noodle sauce on the side. I don't eat much seasoning, so I wanted to add a little first and more if needed. Since the noodles already come with seasoning, asking for the sauce separately is a good idea if you like a milder broth like me.

Noodles and meat together, so good, right? I got proper healing right at the start of the trip. As you can see in the photo, the noodles were really springy. With pickled radish and an egg too, this great-value lunch special in the ₩10,000 range is something I hope everyone knows about.

Yangyang IC to Yeoyejeong, then Sol Beach Yangyang check-in

Yeoyejeong is in a great spot to stop at after leaving the Yangyang Expressway and before Sol Beach Yangyang. You can eat lunch for just over ₩10,000, so getting off the expressway, having the lunch special at Yeoyejeong and then checking in at Sol Beach Yangyang seems like a really good route.

The owner was very kind, and the lunch special, at just over ₩10,000, was a really good set. The pot rice was especially impressive, and looking at the next table, the meat portions looked quite big and tasty too.

Is Yeoyejeong a good restaurant to visit with kids?

Yeoyejeong had lots of fun touches for guests with kids, like a drawing corner and a prize draw for Google reviews.
