Somunnan Gaya Milmyeon Busan City Hall Branch is a milmyeon (chewy cold wheat noodle) restaurant in an alley off Geojesijang-ro in Yeonje, Busan. On a weekday lunch visit with a friend, the table held a double portion of milmyeon, bibim milmyeon (spicy sauced cold noodles) and dumplings, alternating cold broth, chili sauce and hot dumplings. Somunnan Gaya Milmyeon is worth remembering if you want a local market-alley restaurant rather than a tourist-trail one.

Gangneung café with an elevator and high chairs: Baegya Coffee

Baegya Coffee is a bakery café on Haean-ro in Gangneung, across from Sageunjin Beach, with ocean views from its first to third floors. Visiting with his wife and three-year-old daughter, the writer shared cherry cream cake, pecan tart, and an iced café latte, and found the elevator and baby high chairs kept the whole visit easy. For families who want dessert with a sea view, Baegya Coffee is one of the most comfortable ocean-view cafés in Gangneung.
