Daegu shabu buffet with a draft beer machine & phone stands: Shabu20

Today I visited a shabu-shabu place I can always count on: Shabu20 Daegu Bokhyeon branch (샤브20 대구복현점)~

What kind of place is Shabu20 Daegu Bokhyeon branch?

Shabu20 Daegu Bokhyeon branch is an all-you-can-eat shabu-shabu restaurant in Bokhyeon-dong, Daegu (1st floor, 79 Gonghang-ro, Buk-gu), where you get unlimited shabu-shabu and rice paper wraps for the ₩20,000 range. It's open daily from 11 am to 10 pm (last order 8:50 pm), and Naver reservations work too. Even the premium beef and pork are unlimited, so the value is amazing~

Is parking easy at Shabu20 Daegu Bokhyeon branch?

There's a big parking lot in front of the restaurant and on both sides, so no parking worries~ It's perfect for group visits and company dinners too!!

A good spot for a group dinner in Buk-gu, Daegu? The 190-seat hall and amenities

The hall holds up to 190 people, so I'd recommend it for group dinners. The inside is incredibly spacious and comfortable~ The tables are spaced far apart, so it was easy to get around. It's really great for gatherings from schools, academies, workplaces and clubs~

There's a Catch Table waiting registration at the entrance! It was a weekday lunch so I got a seat, but I hear there's often a wait on weekends, holidays and during Kyungpook National University graduation season~ They also had baby chairs and blankets, plus coat hangers, which was handy 😊

Under the sauce self-bar there were also cute kids' tableware and phone stands!! They're great for showing kids videos, and for people who like watching videos while they eat~ Little touches like this won me over. I recommend it as a kid-friendly restaurant in Buk-gu, Daegu!!

Shabu20 Daegu Bokhyeon branch prices and broth types

There's a lunch course and a dinner course, and both are in the ₩20,000 range, so the price feels reasonable!! There are plenty of broth types, and you can even have hot pot (huoguo)~ I ordered the original broth, bonito/spicy!

What's at the self-bar?

The self-bar had shabu-shabu ingredients and rice paper wrap veggies~ With all kinds of fresh vegetables, mushrooms, fish cake, sweet pumpkin and more, I liked being able to eat however I wanted!! The bar was kept clean, and nothing was wilted, everything was fresh, so I felt reassured~

When you think Shabu20, it's chicken gangjeong (sweet crispy fried chicken), of course~(?) haha A shabu-shabu place that's more famous for its fried chicken.. But one bite and you'll agree it's good. This time they even had pad thai?? Shabu20 keeps getting better..

There was also smoked salmon salad, dotorimuk (acorn jelly) and minari-ureong chomuchim (water dropwort and sea snail salad in a tangy dressing)~ Plenty of appetite-boosting dishes to pick at in between, which I loved haha And for dessert there were fruit and rice cakes~ I think kids would enjoy them haha

On one side there were various sauces and side dishes like rakkyo (pickled scallions), danmuji (yellow pickled radish) and pickled ginger. There were also recommended sauce recipes and sauces matched to each broth, so it's worth checking those out~

I also liked that rice comes in small portions for making porridge~ Don't forget the eggs!!

Unlimited beef at Shabu20 Daegu Bokhyeon branch: how's the meat quality?

You can choose between beef and pork to your taste. The fat-to-lean ratio was just right, so the meat was tender, not dry!! The beef in particular is from the USA and Australia, which feels safe~

I set up a full spread~ Even though it was a four-person table, it was big enough that piling on lots of wide plates didn't feel cramped!

Fish it straight out of the pot and eat it~ or roll it up in a rice paper wrap and dunk it in sauce, the best!! I loved that the ingredients that go into the shabu-shabu, like fresh vegetables and premium beef, are unlimited with no extra charge~ Neither the broth nor the sauces were overly strong, just tasty enough to whet the appetite, so I never got sick of it and ate a lot.

Is draft beer unlimited at weekday lunch too?

Yes, unlimited draft beer was available even with the weekday lunch course!! Since beer is included in the all-you-can-eat price, you don't pay for drinks at a group dinner, which seems especially nice~

When you put a glass on the machine, it pours the beer by itself!! And cleverly the foam comes out separately~ The glass is tilted as it pours, so the beer-to-foam ratio was just right!! With a cold beer, you can fit in another bowl, right!! haha

Shabu20 Daegu Bokhyeon branch desserts and takeout

There was a wide choice of drinks too!! Soda, coffee, tangerine juice, plum juice, even ice cream!! The coffee machine in particular makes espresso, café latte, cappuccino and more~

I picked the ice cream!! Next to it there were cookie crumbs, granola and other toppings to sprinkle on~ One tip! Try it like this haha

• Ice cream + espresso = affogato
• Ice cream + café latte = ice cream latte
• Ice cream + injeolmi (roasted soybean powder) rice cake = chewy rice cake ice cream

And Shabu20 lets you take drinks and ice cream to go, which is so, so great!! Iced or hot, both work, and you can put ice cream in a big cup and make it the way I described above~ After a hearty shabu-shabu meal, you can grab a tasty dessert too, a big plus.

All ingredients unlimited for the ₩20,000 range, premium beef and draft beer unlimited, even takeout dessert!! It's a total bargain of a value restaurant in Buk-gu, Daegu, Shabu20 Daegu Bokhyeon branch~
