Daejeon pork bone grill near Urideul Park with egg custard: Yeonam
In short
Yeonam Charcoal-Grilled Pork Backbone & Gamjatang is a Korean restaurant serving charcoal-grilled pork backbones and gamjatang (pork bone potato stew) near Urideul Park (우리들공원) in Daeheung-dong, Jung-gu, Daejeon. The writer, who had been paying to eat at Yeonam before joining its review program, ordered the small stone-grilled pork bones with a ramen noodle add-on, bomb egg custard (puffy steamed eggs) and a bowl of rice, and enjoyed the smoky, spicy-sweet sauce paired with the soft egg custard. Yeonam is worth recommending as a rice-meal spot for spicy pork bones with egg custard and white rice.

Today's restaurant news is my visit to Yeonam Charcoal-Grilled Pork Backbone & Gamjatang (연암숯불뼈구이&감자탕), a well-known rice spot in Daeheung-dong, Daejeon!!! 🔥 It's perfect when you're craving smoky Korean food! The look, the taste and the atmosphere were all great, and I was happy the whole meal. (Honestly, I'd been paying for meals here myself before this sponsored visit!!)

What is the atmosphere like inside Yeonam in Daeheung-dong?
👍🏻 The interior of Yeonam is clean and comfortable.

Even the exterior is modern, yet it still gives off that proper Korean restaurant feel!

There's a Catchtable tablet at the entrance, so you can register for the waiting list there. The seating is really roomy and the tables are spaced wide, so it looked great for an evening get-together or company dinner in Daeheung-dong.

The cutlery is kept hygienic under disposable covers, and it's neatly set in the table drawer along with paper cups, which made me happy. They even make sure to hand out aprons, such a thoughtful touch! (The owner was kind to us every single time, which I love!)
What side dishes come with the pork bone grill at Yeonam?
👍🏻 The basic side dishes at Yeonam are neatly arranged: chili peppers with ssamjang, pickled onions, mayo glass noodle salad and stir-fried anchovies.

As soon as we sat down, they set out cool, nutty-tasting water! The sides were crunchy chili peppers with ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste), pickled onions, a mayo glass noodle salad and salty stir-fried anchovies. The combo of the spicy pork bones with the glass noodle salad is honestly crazy... a magic pairing you can't stop eating, the best!!
How do Yeonam's stone-grilled pork bones taste with bomb egg custard?
🍗🥚 This day at Yeonam I ordered the signature stone-grilled pork bones (small) with a ramen noodle add-on, plus bomb egg custard (gyeran-jjim) and a bowl of rice. The spicy pork bones with the soft egg custard is a crazy-good combo!

It's seriously great that a savory broth comes free with your order! Then the main pork bones arrived, and the deep charcoal aroma hit my nose! The meat was so tender that it slid right off the bone, and the spicy-sweet sauce had soaked between the strips of meat, so the flavor just exploded!

The sauce isn't harsh but still deliciously spicy, the kind of taste that melts your stress away! Mixing in the ramen noodles that soaked up the sauce is pure heaven... the ramen noodle add-on isn't optional, it's a must!!
Between bites of meat, I took a big spoonful of the fluffy, savory bomb egg custard, and it calmed the spice and was so soft. I put the pork bone sauce on hot white rice, topped it with a chunk of meat, and cleaned out the whole bowl of rice in no time!
