Sharosu-gil gyukatsu set with draft beer 3+1 and grill care: Izawa

In short

Izawa Sharosugil Branch (이자와 샤로수길점) is a gyukatsu (beef cutlet) restaurant on the 2nd floor in Sharosu-gil, Gwanak, Seoul, a 3–5 minute walk from Exit 1 of Seoul National University Station. The gyukatsu set came with a draft beer 3+1 deal and was lightly seared piece by piece on a mini grill, while staff wiped the grill regularly without being asked. I was already in Sharosu-gil, a popular date spot, so on a friend's recommendation I stopped by Izawa Sharosugil Branch!!

How far is Izawa Sharosugil Branch from Seoul National University of Education Station?

Izawa Sharosugil Branch is on the 2nd floor at 28 Gwanak-ro 14-gil, Gwanak-gu, Seoul, about a 3-5 minute walk from Exit 1 of Seoul National University of Education Station, so it's pretty accessible. Just a short walk from the main street of Sharosu-gil and you'll find it easily on the 2nd floor.

I love gyukatsu in general so I had high expectations going in, and to cut to the chase, it was even better than I expected! The food was great, but the staff were also so kind that I had a pleasant time the whole meal.

Gyukatsu set and beer 3+1: menu and prices

I ordered the gyukatsu set at Izawa Sharosugil Branch, along with the draft beer 3+1 deal that was running. Here are roughly the prices for the main menu items.

  • Gyukatsu Set ₩18,000
  • Steki Set ₩18,000
  • Curry Gyukatsu ₩20,000
  • Gyudon ₩12,000
  • Dontoro-don ₩13,000
  • Mazesoba ₩12,000
  • Cold Buckwheat Noodles ₩9,500

The prices are pretty standard for a Sharosu-gil restaurant, but once I actually ate it, considering the quality of the meat and the overall composition, it was plenty satisfying.

Self-grilling gyukatsu on a mini burner

As soon as the dish arrived, the visuals alone got me — the gyukatsu came pre-sliced for easy eating, crispy on the outside and a pretty pink inside, so it photographed really well too.

The best part was grilling it myself as much as I wanted on the mini burner — made the meal more fun. I only grilled mine lightly, and the juices stayed locked in, so it was really delicious.

Gyukatsu served with wasabi and sauce

Adding a bit of wasabi brought out the meat's flavor even more, and the accompanying sauce paired really well too, tasted great. The cabbage salad and side dishes served alongside were clean and refreshing to eat between bites, and the rice and miso soup rounded out a very satisfying overall spread. Especially with beer, it went down so well haha.

Solo dining, dates, family meals: what's the atmosphere like?

The Izawa Sharosugil Branch space overall was clean and well organized. The tables had good spacing so I didn't feel crammed against neighboring seats, and the lighting was soft, making for a comfortable meal.

Above all, I got a strong sense that cleanliness was well managed. Both the tables and the dishware were spotless, and the open kitchen added to the trust. It seemed like a place you could visit alone without hesitation, and the atmosphere suited both dates and family meals equally well! I noticed quite a few people there seemed to be on blind dates too.

What impressed me most: service that even managed the grill

What personally impressed me most was how kind the staff were. From ordering to explaining the food, they guided me through every step kindly, and they kept wiping down the grill regularly without me even having to ask, which made eating so much easier. Even during a busy stretch, the service stayed friendly, so I felt good the whole meal 😄

Next time I'd like to try other menu items like the steki set or the mazesoba. If you're looking for delicious gyukatsu and a good date spot in Sharosu-gil, I'd highly recommend giving Izawa Sharosugil Branch a visit!
