Daegu Western restaurant with high chairs and a steak set: Dana
In short
Dana Dongseong-ro Main Branch (다나 동성로본점) is a two-level Western restaurant on the 2nd floor in Yasi Alley, Dongseong-ro, Jung-gu, Daegu. The writer ordered the Signature Steak Set (baked risotto, flat iron steak and a soft drink), swapping the drink for a mango ade for 1,000 won extra. The writer also added a Cheongyang pepper (spicy green chili) bacon cream pasta. With high chairs and bright upstairs seats by floor-to-ceiling windows, Dana Dongseong-ro Main Branch worked well for both a family meal and a date.

If you ask me for a Western restaurant in downtown Daegu with a good atmosphere and good food, one place comes to mind right away: Dana Dongseong-ro Main Branch (다나 동성로본점)! My husband has loved it for ages. It's a solid Dongseong-ro pick for dates, get-togethers with friends and family meals.

Where is Dana Dongseong-ro Main Branch, and what about hours and parking?
Dana Dongseong-ro Main Branch is in the Yasi Alley area, near Dongseong-ro's Tongsin Alley, and the white glass-walled building stands out even from a distance. It's also close to Banwoldang Station, so it's easy to get to.
Address: 12-24 Dongseong-ro 2-gil, Jung-gu, Daegu (2nd floor) / Hours: 11:30–22:00 / Break time: 15:30–17:00
As is typical for restaurants in Dongseong-ro, there's no parking lot of its own. I'd recommend the public parking lot at Gukchae-bosang Memorial Park or another paid lot nearby~
Two-level interior and dining with a child
Dana is on the 2nd floor of the building, so you walk up the stairs, and as soon as you step inside, the two-level layout feels spacious and comfortable. Natural light pours in through the glass windows, so the inside feels bright and clean. The view by the windows is especially nice, haha

High chairs are available, and you order and prepay at the counter.

Every time I come to Dana, I sit in the upper level, which you reach by the stairs. The upstairs also has glass windows with lots of natural light and a nice view, so it's a popular spot. I also like that the tables are nicely spaced out.
This is the side opposite the windows. The interior has a warm feel, so you can relax and enjoy your meal. It's great for a couple's date, and just as good for chatting with friends over tasty food.

Because of the two-level layout, you order and prepay at the counter next to the stairs. There's also a receipt review event going on, so give it a try~

The menu and choosing a set
What I like about Dana Dongseong-ro Main Branch is the wide range of reasonably priced Western dishes. The pasta prices are really kind, and there are also risotto, pilaf, steak, pizza, salad and more. The set menus are especially well put together, so I recommend them if you want to try a bit of everything!!

First, they brought out wet wipes and pickles.

I chose Dana's popular Signature Steak Set, which comes with baked risotto, flat iron steak and a soft drink. I swapped the soft drink for a mango ade (+₩1,000).

It looked delicious from the very first glance, and once I tasted it, it didn't disappoint. It's still as good as ever, which put me in a great mood^^
Sous vide flat iron steak, always medium
Let me start with the beef flat iron steak. The beef is first cooked at low temperature, vacuum-sealed (sous vide), then cooked a second time with butter before it comes out. When you order a steak, you can pick one side dish, and I chose the honey truffle fries.

It also comes with steak sauce, wasabi, whole grain mustard and mashed potatoes.
Since it's cooked sous vide first, the steak is served medium and you can't choose the doneness. That was just right for me, so I was happy with it. The outside is nicely seared and the inside is moist and tender.

I loved that it came cut into bite-size pieces. I could taste a subtle butter flavor, the beef was rich and savory, and it was juicy, so it was delicious.

Dip it in salt first, then try it with wasabi and whole grain mustard. Good!!

Dipping it in the steak sauce gives you yet another flavor, which is nice. This is a total must-try.

These are the honey truffle fries I picked as my side. They were fried really well, and the truffle scent was strong and sweet, so my child absolutely loved them.

The baked risotto in the set
This is the baked risotto that comes with the set, and it's another of Dana's best dishes. Risotto with bacon and shrimp is baked once more in the oven to drive off the moisture, so you get a crispy texture.

Inside, it's packed with risotto simmered in a spicy cream sauce. The flavor was deep, and it was salty yet nutty, with a soft texture too, so it's a perfect dish. One bite and my eyes lit up, it was that good, haha. It has a addictive taste that keeps coming back to mind.

What does the Cheongyang pepper bacon cream pasta taste like?
This is the Cheongyang pepper bacon cream pasta (Cheongyang peppers are spicy Korean green chilies) that I ordered in addition. It was plated beautifully. Cream pasta can get a little heavy as you eat, but this one is full of Cheongyang peppers, so it isn't greasy and has a clean finish, which is its strength. The cream sauce is rich and smooth with a strong butter flavor, so you can enjoy it right to the end.
There's plenty of bacon too, adding a savory depth that kept me reaching for more. The noodles were cooked just right and evenly coated in sauce, so I really enjoyed it. If you like cream pasta, I definitely recommend it~ Dipping bread in the leftover sauce at the end is amazing. Officially a Dongseong-ro pasta hotspot!!!
The mango ade I picked as my drink was cool and sweet and went well with the food. Once you finish the ade, you can even get a free refill with a soft drink, which I loved, haha
Would I go again? Final thoughts
Dana Dongseong-ro Main Branch is a genuinely great restaurant that puts me in a good mood every time I come. The prices aren't a burden, but the food quality is beyond what you'd expect. The steak, pasta and pizza are all good quality. With the atmosphere too, I recommend it to anyone looking for a Dongseong-ro date restaurant!!
