Suwon pizza place, corn crusts dipped in pesce broth: Low Five Sinpung
In short
Low Five Sinpung is a pizza and pasta restaurant on Sinpung-ro in Haenggung-dong, Suwon. The writer booked through Catch Table and visited with a friend around 7:30pm on a Friday, ordering the corn pizza, hot pot pesce pasta, Caesar salad and orange juice in a full, dimly lit dining room. The Low Five Sinpung corn pizza was so good that the writer dipped even the crust ends in the pesce pasta's tomato broth and called it the pizza of their life.

Today I went to Low Five Sinpung (로우파이브 신풍), a Western-style restaurant in Haenggung-dong, with a close friend. I'd figured pizza is pizza, wherever you go, and then I literally ate it with tears in my eyes. It was a total Haenggung-dong gem. I heard there's a wait on weekends, and I could see why right away..!! It was busy even on a Friday evening! Okay, on to my honest Low Five Sinpung review!

What's the atmosphere like at Low Five Sinpung on a Friday evening?
We got to Low Five Sinpung around 7:30pm on a Friday. The sun had already set and the Haenggung-dong street was dark, but the bright, warm lighting let us spot the restaurant from far away. There are also 2 tables outside, which suit this cool weather perfectly.

It was full, so booking on Catch Table was the right call
Even with quite a lot of seats, the place was already full!!! I'm so glad I booked on Catch Table beforehand. Because we got there a bit late, I was able to photograph the inside after the other guests had left, and it's much darker in person than in the photos. That dim lighting makes the mood extra romantic, so it's a great Haenggung-dong spot for a blind date too. The vibe was so good that I thought I have to come back on a date with my husband.

Window seats like a scene from a movie
The window seats at Low Five Sinpung especially felt like a film. Everyone sitting there was a couple, and the picture-like view of Haenggung-dong framed like a painting was so moody.

There are baby chairs too, so it works for family meals as well as dates. The self-bar has water, hot sauce and grated cheese.

Low Five Sinpung menu and how to order
The menu at Low Five Sinpung is split broadly into pasta and pizza, and there are 5 kinds of pizza, which is quite a lot. Many were types I'd never seen, so it was really fun to browse. The pasta lineup covers cream, rosé and tomato, and there's even lasagna, which is trendy right now! Each table has a QR code, so you can order conveniently from your phone.
- Corn pizza (highly recommended)
- Hot pot pesce pasta
- Caesar salad
- Orange juice

Caesar salad: a fresh, zesty salad that arrives already tossed
First came the Caesar salad to get our appetites going. It arrived already tossed, so there was no mixing needed, which was really convenient. The sauce itself is tangy, so I didn't use the grilled lemon on the side, but I thought it was a very smart dish. The fresh, zesty vegetables go really well with Western food.

What does the hot pot pesce pasta taste like?
The hot pot pesce pasta (pesce means fish in Italian), topped with arugula, is a tomato-based seafood pasta. It's brothy, the kind of pasta I like as a hangover cure, and it's packed with seafood like clams, mussels and squid.

Since we were ordering pizza, I decided to skip cream and go for a rosé or tomato pasta, and it was a huge success!! The clams had no fishy taste, and with so many clams the broth tasted incredibly clean. It felt less like pasta and more like eating a delicious, upscale gukbap (Korean rice soup).

Why is the corn pizza at Low Five Sinpung the pizza of my life?
The corn pizza at Low Five Sinpung has crispy dough topped with chodang corn (super-sweet corn) and cheese, and it was the big highlight of the meal!!! Wow, this is seriously... I keep thinking about it.
It's truly the pizza of my life..
First, the dough is absurdly crispy. It's also a little spicy, so I feel like I could eat a whole pie by myself without it getting greasy. The crunchy texture and sweetness of the chodang corn together with the nutty cheese was honestly just moving.

Dip the crust ends in the pesce pasta's tomato broth
I normally don't eat the crust ends, but on the corn pizza even the crust was tastier than ciabatta from most bakeries, so I cleaned up every bit. Dipping it in the tomato broth of the hot pot pesce pasta made it even better, pure honey.

Would I go back to Low Five Sinpung in Haenggung-dong?
At this moody Western restaurant in Haenggung-dong, I enjoyed delicious pizza and pasta in a great atmosphere. Honestly, I don't really like Western food, but at Low Five Sinpung I loved the food so much, besides the mood, that I'm definitely coming back with my husband. That's the end of my honest Low Five Sinpung review!
