Today I went on a date to Isu Station! The best part of any date is delicious food, and I know a great Isu spot for udon and tonkatsu that I want to share. It's Kosi Isu Branch, famous around Isu. The springy noodles and tender tonkatsu are fantastic, so I really recommend it! Okay, let me start my honest review of Kosi Isu Branch~
Where is Kosi Isu Branch, and what about parking?
Kosi Isu Branch is on the first floor of the building at 300 Sadang-ro, Dongjak-gu, Seoul, and it's open every day from 11:20 to 21:00. You can park in the building's basement parking lot, and free parking time is offered.

You can park in the basement parking lot of the building. There's also a really big E-Mart Everyday on basement level 1, so you could do some grocery shopping on the way~ When you pay, just tell them your license plate number and they'll give you free parking time!

Kosi Isu Branch is just a 1–2 minute walk from Isu Station, so it's really close. The Japanese-style exterior stands out a lot, so you'll find it quickly~

Are the seats good for solo diners and family meals?
The inside of Kosi Isu Branch is quite spacious, with seats for 1, 2 and 4 people. Tables can be pushed together for groups, so it looked great for dates or family meals. There are 3 counter seats for solo diners, which makes it a good place to eat alone near Isu Station too!

They also have baby chairs, so it would be nice to bring a child for some tasty udon and tonkatsu~

Kosi Isu Branch menu and what we ordered
The menu at Kosi Isu Branch has a variety of udon, including cold udon, hot udon and kama udon (udon served straight from the pot), plus tonkatsu! There are also donburi (rice bowls) for anyone not in the mood for noodles, and you can combine items into set menus.
- Kamatama udon set (tempura)
- Ebi tempura udon
- Sweet potato cheese croquette

We ordered the kamatama udon we enjoyed on our last visit, and since we wanted hot broth udon too, we got the ebi tempura udon~! Every table has a kiosk, so ordering was easy.

The basic table setting has salt, pepper and shichimi (Japanese seven-spice chili blend), so you can add them to taste.

How do you eat Kosi's kamatama udon?
The kamatama udon at Kosi Isu Branch is a brothless udon: you pour a little of the soy sauce that comes with it over the top, break the egg yolk and mix it all together. My kamatama udon came out first, and even though the photo can't capture it, Kosi's noodles are on a different level from other udon places..! There are a few famous house-made noodle spots with long waits in our neighborhood too, but once you try Kosi you can't help thinking, 'Ah, THIS is what udon noodles are!'
Before enjoying those springy noodles, pour a little of the included soy sauce over them, break the yolk and mix well, and you're ready to eat~!

These are noodles eaten without broth, and the mild, nutty flavor combined with the springy texture keeps your chopsticks going~ Please be sure to order it and try it!

Set tempura for ₩4,000
The tempura that comes with the kamatama udon set includes perilla leaf, shrimp, sweet potato and even kabocha (Korean pumpkin), and it's only ₩4,000, so the value is really good too~

How are Kosi's ebi tempura udon and tonkatsu?
The ebi tempura udon my husband ordered at Kosi Isu Branch was ready quickly too~ It came out with warm broth and the tonkatsu we ordered alongside. Kosi's noodles are great, but the tonkatsu is also so good that it's worth ordering. A thick whole cut of fresh sirloin is fried crispy.

True to the name ebi tempura udon, it comes with a big fried shrimp and kabocha tempura too. Doesn't it look so appetizing, haha

I already went on and on about the springy noodles, so I'll skip that~ The udon broth is mild and clean, leaving nothing unpleasant in your mouth, which is its best point! If you're just looking for a good spot around Isu, give Kosi a visit.

The tonkatsu was cooked really well and tender, and it goes so well with the udon. The meat is super thick and the portion is big, so I recommend adding it on~

How is the sweet potato cheese croquette as a side?
The sweet potato cheese croquette we added is packed with stretchy cheese inside, so it's a tasty side to add when you want a little something extra~
Kosi Isu Branch is an Isu favorite that we love, so if you visit once, I'm sure you won't regret it~
