Gwangjin bakery café for a couple's decaf afternoon: Stack Bakery

Today I went on a date with my husband to Konkuk University Station, and the bakery café we visited was so good I wanted to introduce it. It's Stack Bakery Konkuk University Station Main Branch, famous as a Konkuk-area bakery café. The variety of breads like salt bread and croissants, the delicious coffee, and the clean interior all left an impression. Here's my honest Stack Bakery review!

The store is a 10-minute walk from Konkuk University Station, which made it easy to visit. Just a 10-minute walk to get to a pretty, delicious café — what happy footsteps those were. The café we visited with high expectations was just as cute and pretty as I'd hoped. If the weather gets a little cooler, having bread and coffee at the outdoor tables set up in front of the store seems like it would be full of atmosphere, so I made up my mind to come back once more.

What's on the bread shelves at this Gwangjin bakery café

The 1st floor has the bread display and counter, while the comfortable seating is upstairs on the 2nd floor. This Konkuk-area bakery café, Stack Bakery, is a real bakery spot that does everything themselves — kneading dough and baking — fresh every dawn! There were so many delicious-looking breads like croissants, kouign-amann, pain au chocolat, and salt bread that my eyes went wide for a moment, haha.

Which drinks can be switched to a decaf shot?

Besides bread, there's a variety of coffee and drink menu items, but we thought americano goes best with bread, so we ordered an iced americano and a green tea latte. Decaf can also be ordered as a separate shot, so we switched to decaf.

This place is famous for its bread, so a lot of customers were taking it to go — if you buy 4 pastries as a set, they'll pack it in a box, which seems great as a gift for friends too.

What the second-floor window seats at Stack Bakery are like

There weren't a lot of seats on the 2nd floor, but the windows let in good light and the space was decorated cutely, which was pretty satisfying. If anything, I liked the cozy, warm feeling.

We ended up at a window seat, and with the right amount of natural light and the lush greenery visible outside the window, it was hard to believe we were so close to Konkuk University Station.

Our drinks and bread came out quickly. The glass cup with 'STACK' written on it was cute, and the bread looked even more delicious in the natural light than it had on the display shelf, which got me so excited. We'd clearly already eaten a meal, but why was I so hungry, haha.

How the decaf iced americano and green tea latte tasted

Before we get to the bread, let me rate the drinks first: the decaf coffee beans were nutty without acidity, and the green tea latte wasn't too sweet, which I liked. We visited after 3pm, so we ordered the decaf americano — and wow, it had been quite a while since I'd tasted decaf americano of this quality. I really recommend Stack Bakery to decaf lovers. The green tea latte wasn't too sweet either, with a nicely balanced bitterness and sweetness from the matcha, so I recommend that too.

Stack Bakery's croissant: texture and buttery flavor

My husband loves bread so much he carries around a croissant tote bag, and after one bite he immediately declared this the best bakery spot near Konkuk University. That's how good the quality and taste were!

The croissant's layers of dough were distinct and solid, giving it a crisp yet chewy texture. And they must use good butter, because the flavor was excellent. From its fine golden color to its large size, this is a real must-visit café near Konkuk University Station for anyone who loves bakeries.
