Why did I start looking for a car glass oil-film remover?

My child and I go on outings by car every weekend, and as I let windshield care slide, the front windshield began to feel hazy. The glare was especially bothersome on rainy days or at night. With the time and cost of going to a car wash feeling like a burden, I chose AutoGrooming Clean View as something to try myself.

The product I used was AutoGrooming Clean View car windshield oil film remover, 120g. Its simple white package comes with a dedicated towel, which was convenient because I did not have to prepare a separate towel for wiping.

How did I use it in the parking garage?

I got into the car to head to work, noticed dust and oil film built up along the windshield edges that the wipers do not reach, and took out the product. I dropped a few drops onto the glass and rubbed it with the included towel.

Because I was in an underground parking garage, I was not able to rinse it with water this time. I did not notice any powdery dust while wiping, and the dust at the edges the wipers had not reached was gone, so it looked much cleaner.

How was the view afterward, and how much could I clean?

It took about 5 minutes to wipe it down briefly, and afterward I felt that the hazy view had improved and that driving was easier on my eyes. I liked being able to get straight to work with the included towel when it was hard to make time for a car wash.

However, I could not clean the top of the windshield because I could not reach it. The change I noticed this time was in the areas I could reach and wipe.

I was pleased with the result even though I skipped rinsing with water. Still, I should add that a water wash is normally needed. Based on this experience alone, it is hard to say that using it without water is the official method.
