Summer is when my hair stresses me out the most 😭 Once the rainy season starts, no matter how carefully I style it in the morning, it all falls apart before lunch.
My hair is naturally thin and limp, and the frizz along my hairline is especially bad, so using a curling iron every morning was almost a must. Even if I straightened it carefully before work, on humid days the flyaways popped up fast and my hair turned into a frizzy mess.
Every time I looked in the mirror I got stressed, and I thought, "I have to get this done before my summer vacation!" So I finally went looking for a good place for recovery straightening near Ewha, and visited one.

Why I worried about straightening damaged hair
My curly hair was hopeless in the summer rainy season. It's been over six months since my last straightening, and I'd also dyed my hair several times this round, so the damage had gotten pretty bad. I kept putting it off, afraid regular straightening would damage it even more... but I just couldn't take it anymore 😂
So this time I searched carefully for recovery straightening near Ewha that works on damaged hair, not the regular kind.

Eco Revy Hair Ewha Branch: location and atmosphere
It's right in front of Exit 3 of Ewha Womans University Station, so it was easy to find. I arrived at my appointment time, and it's almost immediately after you come out of Exit 3, so getting there was really easy. It's convenient by public transport, and I thought it would be no trouble to come back.

I also liked that the salon wasn't crowded, probably because it runs by reservation only. I'm not a fan of busy places, so being able to get my treatment in a calm, relaxed atmosphere made me happy from the start.

How the scalp and hair diagnosis consultation works
I'd never had such a thorough consultation. After they brought me a drink and some snacks and I waited a little, the first thing they did was check my current hair condition, and it was much more than just looking at my hair.
Before: my hair condition

Flyaways, hairline frizz, a total disaster 😇

We moved to a consultation room, where they examined my scalp and hair in detail. Honestly, it's not a scalp care center, it's a hair salon, so I was amazed that they checked this closely. They showed my scalp and hair magnified and compared them with healthy hair.
- Why my hair dries out so easily
- Why my frizz feels so much worse
- How damaged my hair currently is
- Which way of doing the treatment is the safest
They explained everything in detail. Instead of a vague "Your hair is damaged," they showed me the evidence as they explained, which built a lot of trust.

Why they recommended root-only straightening instead of the whole head
What I liked best was that they didn't push an excessive treatment. Honestly, I wanted to straighten my whole head 😂 But after the consultation, they told me that straightening just the grown-out part, the roots, suited me better than a full-head straightening.
They said it had only been about six months since my last straightening, so redoing the existing hair could cause even more damage. They weren't pushing a full treatment that costs more, only recommending what my hair needed now, which felt really trustworthy. So I decided to go with recovery straightening, doing only the necessary parts and keeping damage to a minimum!
Even the product application was done really carefully

The recovery straightening process
The process was very thorough too. They used different products on the thin, damaged parts and the healthy parts, and kept checking the processing time as they went.
Having them check my hair's condition again and again was really reassuring. There was no sense of rushing to finish; I could feel everything being tailored step by step to my hair.

Root recovery straightening results: does it last through the rainy season?
I was really happy with the result ✨ Finally done! The moment I looked in the mirror I was genuinely amazed. My hair, which used to stick up frizzy every morning, was calm and neat, and I loved how it slid smoothly through when I just ran my fingers through it.
Most of all, I loved how natural it looked. It isn't that stick-straight, pressed-flat straightening from before; it looked like I naturally have great hair, with a natural shine! I filmed it on video and was surprised to see an angel ring (a shiny halo of light) form. My hair used to be so dry it barely reflected light, but this time it gave off a soft shine whenever I moved, and I kept staring at the mirror.
And what satisfied me most was that the style held over time. Even in humid weather, the hairline flyaways didn't pop up like they used to, and when I checked the mirror after getting to work, my morning style was still intact, which felt like a whole new world. Before, my hair would puff up like a triangle gimbap (rice triangle) by lunch and I'd have to put essence on it, but now one pass with my hand keeps it neat, so my morning prep time has dropped a lot too.
My hair also became much softer than I expected, and even the damaged parts I'd worried about felt more put together, so my satisfaction was really high. I truly felt there's a reason people recommend recovery straightening.
A treatment I loved even more thanks to Designer Seojun

Designer Seojun handled this treatment, and "meticulous" is exactly the word. From consultation to treatment, mid-process checks and final styling, nothing was done carelessly. They listened to my worries all the way through and said, "I'll do this part so there's as little damage as possible," and the actual result was beyond my expectations, which made me even happier.
After the treatment they also explained in detail how to care for my hair, so I knew how to look after it at home to make it last, and overall it was a really satisfying experience.

Overall review
I'm sure plenty of people get stressed by frizzy hair in the rainy season. If you have thin, limp, damaged hair like mine and are worried about regular straightening, I'd recommend considering recovery straightening near Ewha.
They didn't push an excessive treatment and started with a careful consultation based on my current hair condition, which made me even happier, and the result was beyond my expectations too. I think I won't have to stress over frizzy hair this summer 😊 It was a day that made me feel that for straightening damaged hair, recovery straightening near Ewha is the answer!
