Sinchon hair salon spin swallow perm for soft, round waves: Demon Hair
In short
Demon Hair Sinchon Branch is a hair salon in Sinchon, Seodaemun, Seoul, just around the corner from a Sinchon Station exit. Stylist Donghan gave the writer a cut and a spin swallow perm, using thin rolls on top for curl and thick rolls on the bangs and lower hair for a light wave, so the result was a round, everyday style instead of strong curls. The verdict: the spin swallow perm at Demon Hair Sinchon Branch looked good enough that friends complimented it.

I usually like a style that looks natural but still has lively curls, so this time I went to Demon Hair Sinchon Branch (데몬헤어 신촌점) for a spin swallow perm.
I didn't want big, chunky curls. I wanted layers of thin curls with real texture, and during the consultation the stylist adjusted the curl strength to suit my face shape and the mood I wanted. Rather than just doing exactly what I asked, they thought about what would suit me best.
Sinchon spin swallow perm / Demon Hair Sinchon Branch
Where is Demon Hair Sinchon Branch, and what is the salon like?
Demon Hair Sinchon Branch is right next to Sinchon Station, so it's very easy to reach. Come out of the station exit, turn into the alley, and you're at the salon.

The inside was bright and clean overall. The seats were spaced comfortably, so it never felt cramped, and I could relax during the treatment.

How the spin swallow perm consultation went
They took plenty of time for the consultation before starting. I showed reference photos and explained I wanted the look of many thin curls. They didn't just copy the photos; they also explained what direction would suit my image, and we decided on the style together.

What I wanted was a spin swallow perm with lots of thin curls and lively texture, not a regular perm with thick curls. During the consultation the stylist pointed out one thing: if strong spin swallow curls go all the way into the bangs, the overall look can come across as more masculine and harsh. I said that direction sounded good to me, and with that the consultation ended and the actual treatment began.

Essential oil scalp massage before the perm
Before the treatment, to help me relax, I picked one essential oil and got a light head massage to ease tension and stress.

It felt nice to be pampered like this even before the treatment began.

Before state and tidying the line with a cut
This is my hair before. It had been two months since my last cut, and I was still deciding on a design, so I'd been growing out the sides and tucking them behind my ears. I have thick hair that gets bushy fast, so first they tidied the line with a cut and thinned it out.

Donghan did the cut quickly and carefully. Even with just the cut, my hair already looked much neater and more put together.

Hair with past perm marks: solution and heat steps
Next came the perm solution and heat treatment. I'd had a perm before, so the center of my hair is untreated, while from a certain line down it still carries traces of the old perm. To even out the strength of the two kinds of hair, they applied the solution to the hair near the scalp first and ran the heat treatment on that first. Seeing them check my hair condition and handle the solution so carefully, to make sure the perm took evenly, made me trust them.

Winding thin and thick rolls separately
After that, they wound the rolls carefully. They said they'd only wind the bangs lightly, and I didn't really get what that meant until I saw the finished hair. It meant thin rolls on top to bring out more curl, and thick rolls on the bangs and lower hair to give a light wave.

The finished spin swallow perm: round waves instead of strong curls
Looking at the finished style, it was designed to feel round and soft overall rather than having the strong curls spin swallow is known for. Since I'm a woman, I think they shaped the curls so they'd be easier to wear day to day instead of looking too rough.

After finishing, a little curl cream brought out the curls and left my hair neat and pretty. It wasn't the usual tight, springy spin swallow perm I'd originally pictured but a perm with big waves, and it still turned out lovely. My friends saw it and complimented my hair.

If you're looking for a spin swallow perm in Sinchon, I recommend Donghan at Demon Hair Sinchon Branch.
