Gyeongsan hanjeongsik scouted before bringing parents: Bapeul Jitda
In short
Bapeul Jitda Gyeongsan Main Branch is a hanjeongsik (Korean full-table set meal) restaurant on Samseonghyeon-ro in Gyeongsan, Gyeongbuk. Before bringing her parents, the writer scouted Bapeul Jitda with her partner, ordering the spring 1-person set (hijiki seaweed stone-pot bibimbap and doenjang jjigae) and the summer 1-person set (live abalone mulhoe and live abalone porridge); everything from the starters to the beef brisket mushroom hot pot was mild rather than heavily seasoned. With a large private parking lot, private rooms and free corkage, Bapeul Jitda Gyeongsan Main Branch is an easy recommendation for family gatherings and first meetings between families.

Bapeul Jitda Gyeongsan Main Branch

Why we went on a scouting trip before bringing my parents
My parents are coming to visit Gyeongsan this month, and while I was researching where to take them for a meal, I came across Bapeul Jitda Gyeongsan Main Branch, which had recently been featured on the 'Gukju's Korean Restaurant' segment of SBS biz's Oh Jung-yeon's Oh! Good Day.
The interior looked clean, there were rooms, it seemed stroller-friendly, and the food looked neat with good taste reviews too — so my partner and I went on a scouting trip together haha before bringing my parents 🤭

Location and interior atmosphere
Bapeul Jitda matched the blue sky so well. The restaurant also has a 'very excellent' hygiene grade..!
Near the store are Daegu Haany University, Yeungnam University, Haenaeda CC, and Bangoji reservoir, so it's a great spot for a meal after a picnic or exercise, or even with a professor 🤭
A clean, upscale interior in white and wood tones. There's group seating in the hall and room spaces too, making it perfect for group gatherings, family meals, or meeting the in-laws. And on top of that, free corkage..👀
Looking at Bapeul Jitda's Instagram, some people hold their parents' 60th or 70th birthday celebrations in the rooms, and on the day we visited there were quite a few reserved group gatherings too!

The window seat was so pretty with the blue sky and lush green trees outside. Thanks to the large picture window, the green scenery outside came into full view, and the restaurant itself felt more spacious and open.
The gender-separated restrooms were very clean, and the staff asked first and prepared a baby chair for us.

Menu at Bapeul Jitda Gyeongsan Main Branch
The main menu focuses on generous hanjeongsik (Korean set-meal) spreads, along with a few à la carte dishes and kids' menu items. (The baby rice was so thoughtful and cute ㅠ)
Order slip

Even the tableware at Bapeul Jitda is pretty 🤭 We ordered the spring 1-person set and the summer 1-person set. The spring set comes with tot (hijiki seaweed) stone pot rice and doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) as the main dish, while the summer set comes with live abalone mulhoe (cold raw fish salad) and live abalone porridge.

Starters — seasonal salad, eggplant fritters, gorae seaweed, and cold pork
Before the main meal came the starters: seasonal salad / eggplant fritters / gorae seaweed with gopchang gim (crinkled seaweed) / cold pork.

The seasonal salad had grana padano cheese, egg, bacon, and fried brown rice on top of fresh vegetables, dressed with my favorite Caesar dressing. The chewy bacon and crispy fried rice gave it great texture too.
The chewy, crunchy gorae seaweed is meant to be wrapped in the accompanying gopchang gim and dipped in sauce! The gorae seaweed is free refill.
Eggplant fritters in an eohyang-gaji (spicy-sweet Sichuan-style) preparation. The sauce was spicy-sweet-sour but not overpowering, so I piled it generously on the fritters.
I'd been craving cold pork for a while, and there it was, right on time..! It was slow-cooked at a low temperature so there was zero dryness — soft, and no gamey smell either, so darn tasty..!! You eat it with garlic sauce and a fresh chive salad, and that sweet garlic sauce especially was the kicker.

The gochujang-grilled deodeok (bellflower root) had a faint smoky char. The bitterness was toned down, and the savory depth of the gochujang seasoning was excellent. They said they use deodeok from Hoengseong, Gangwon-do.

The shared dish across seasonal sets: beef brisket mushroom hot pot
The beef brisket mushroom hot pot comes with every seasonal set. You can choose mild, medium, or spicy. Once it starts boiling, turn the heat down low and dip the vegetables and meat in the sauce. (If you leave it on high heat too long it can get salty, so be sure to lower it!)
It was packed with bean sprouts, bok choy, various mushrooms, napa cabbage, and beef brisket, giving it good texture and heartiness. Not overpowering at all, which made it even more delicious!

Summer 1-person set — live abalone porridge and live abalone mulhoe
The live abalone porridge included in the summer set. The nutty sesame oil smell the moment it arrived was incredible ㅠ Served in a stone pot so it stays warm for a long time, and with the innards mixed in it was rich, savory, and delicious..💚

Also included in the summer set, the live abalone mulhoe. Fresh abalone piled on generously, with konjac noodles laid underneath the vegetables. Cleverly, the sauce came in a semi-frozen slush form, so it stayed cold and refreshing for a long time even without ice. The abalone and vegetables were fresh, and the sauce was spicy-sour — a dish that really whet the appetite!

Spring 1-person set — tot stone pot rice and doenjang jjigae
The tot bibimbap included in the spring set. Chewy tot (hijiki seaweed) mixed with a fragrant blend of perilla and olive oil made it both nutty and full of flavor. The mild, savory taste had its own charm, so it was plenty tasty even without gochujang — but when you need more seasoning, they'll bring you a separate paprika gochujang made with grilled paprika and tomato if you ask!
I didn't manage to photograph it, but doenjang jjigae comes along too, and eaten with the stew and the grilled deodeok, the seasoning felt just right. The doenjang jjigae was savory and delicious too!! If you can't eat tot, they'll substitute it with a saengchae (fresh vegetable) bibimbap with four kinds of raw vegetables plus stir-fried beef and walnuts.

Review event potato cheese balls and after-meal coffee
The potato cheese balls you can get through the review event. If I had to pick my three favorite dishes personally, they'd be the eggplant fritters, the cold pork, and these potato cheese balls. The coating was clean and crispy, and the cheese didn't taste cheap at all — super soft! The sauce was some kind of gochu-mayo sauce, subtly spicy, which cut the richness and paired really well. I'm definitely doing the review event again next visit..

Near the entrance there are cookies, yakgwa (honey cookies), and a coffee machine, so you can wrap up with an after-meal coffee too ✨
Scouting trip conclusion
With its upscale, clean interior and private room spaces, Bapeul Jitda Gyeongsan is great for family meals, group gatherings, or meeting the in-laws. Above all, every dish was healthy and delicious without being overpowering, so I can confidently recommend bringing my parents here. We're planning to revisit with them soon 😉
