Hubaldae Dongdaegu Station Branch (후발대 동대구역점) is a pork belly BBQ restaurant near Dongdaegu Station, and lots of reviews say the honey butter potatoes are great. For some reason I'd been craving meat for days. I really love pork belly anyway, so I looked around for where to go, and ended up at Hubaldae (Dongdaegu Station) because my boyfriend had told me before that it was good.
The area around Dongdaegu Station is a place I often go to meet people, and I'd seen so many reviews saying Hubaldae's honey butter potatoes were delicious that I'd wanted to try it for a while.🤭🤭

We went on a weekday evening and customers kept coming in, so there's clearly a reason it's popular🫢.
Atmosphere inside Hubaldae
The restaurant felt clean, and the tables weren't packed too tightly, so we could eat comfortably. Once evening came it filled up with customers quickly, and you can tell it's a place people go to for pork belly in Daegu.⭐️⭐️
What should you order at Hubaldae?
We ordered 2 servings of fresh pork belly, 2 servings of fresh pork neck and fried rice.
I'd also heard a lot that you absolutely have to try the honey butter potatoes when you come to Hubaldae, so my expectations were really high.
Pork belly alone might feel a little lacking, but ordering pork neck too let us enjoy two different textures, which was much more satisfying. The pork belly's charm is its rich, savory fattiness, while the pork neck is clean-tasting and juicy, so they're great to alternate.
If you love meat, I recommend ordering pork belly and pork neck together like we did.
How did the fresh pork belly and pork neck taste?
The fresh pork belly was juicy from the very first bite, and the fresh pork neck was moist rather than dry. The meat came out nicely thick, which got me excited. Just hearing it sizzle on the grill made me want to eat right away, haha
✔️ We started with the fresh pork belly, and it was really delicious, juicy from the first bite.
The meat wasn't too chewy and had just the right texture, so my chopsticks kept going back for more. It was good wrapped in lettuce and went well with the side dishes too, so I never got tired of it.
✔️ The fresh pork neck was better than expected too. Pork neck can easily turn dry, but this was grilled moist and had a really nice clean flavor. Alternating it with the pork belly actually made both taste even better🤩🤩
Why do I recommend Hubaldae's honey butter potatoes?
Hubaldae's honey butter potatoes are sweet and savory, so they were great to alternate with the pork belly. And they were the thing I'd been looking forward to most.
I understood right away why so many people recommend them. The sweet-and-savory flavor was quietly addictive, and eating them with the pork belly was a really good combination.
If you keep eating nothing but meat it can get a bit greasy, but a bite of honey butter potato resets your mouth, so we kept alternating. It's no exaggeration to say I came here for these 😍

At a BBQ place, fried rice is pretty much a must, haha. I was already quite full, but the fried rice still found room. I loved that they stir-fried it all and brought it to us!!
Overall verdict on Hubaldae Dongdaegu Station Branch
I was happy with both the pork belly and the pork neck, and personally the honey butter potatoes left the biggest impression. I can see why Hubaldae is so often talked about as a pork BBQ spot in Daegu..! It paired well with the meat and made the meal feel richer.
And the staff were so kind! They cut everything up, plated it prettily, and I was so touched..😭
If you're looking for a good BBQ restaurant near Dongdaegu Station, or a pork belly place in Daegu, it's worth a visit!! I thought it would be nice to come back with my family too.
