Daegu brunch café with jambon pasta and ragu tteokbokki: Otter Rabbit
In short
Otter Rabbit House is a European-style brunch café in Dowon-dong, Dalseo-gu, Daegu, near Woelgwang Waterside Park. On a mother-daughter date with her middle-school daughter, the writer ordered the jambon butter pasta (18,000 won), made with a Japanese miso base, and the ragu tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes, 13,000 won) with house-made ragu sauce, and both were satisfying. Otter Rabbit House is a good place for an hour of chatting with a teenage daughter and a solid pick for brunch around Sangin-dong and Dowon-dong.

Otter Rabbit House is a Sangin-dong brunch café full of European charm. Here's my review of the unusual jambon butter pasta and rich ragu tteokbokki (stir-fried rice cakes) that won over my middle-school daughter's taste buds. With its pretty interior, it's a great date spot in Dowon-dong for snapping some nice photos.

My middle-school daughter has grown up so fast and prefers hanging out with friends these days, so I took her out for a cozy mother-daughter date at this Sangin-dong brunch café.

What's the interior like?

Warm wood tones and a European-style interior were on display inside this Sangin-dong, Daegu brunch café.

I loved the relaxed view of the quiet alley through the pretty windows — a great photo zone for the ladies too.

With cute little decor pieces placed everywhere, the exotic vibe was strong! It's a brunch café that feels both stylish and cozy, so the two of us sat and chatted away for a whole hour.
The bakery display

The bakery display case in one corner of Otter Rabbit House also caught my eye. There were more varieties than I expected, and every single one looked delicious. Since the place is so popular, a few items were already sold out, which was a bit disappointing, but what remained was still plenty good!
Menu and how to order

Ordering at Otter Rabbit House is simple — just use the kiosk in the store. There's a full lineup perfect for enjoying brunch, like pasta, toast, and ragu tteokbokki! For the summer season, they also have cherry bingsu (shaved ice dessert). Oh, and they sell wine too — next time I'll have to come back for dinner with my husband and pair it with a glass.
What we ordered and the prices

📒 What we ordered — jambon butter pasta ₩18,000, ragu tteokbokki ₩13,000.
How the jambon butter pasta and ragu tteokbokki taste

I had the jambon butter pasta and the ragu tteokbokki, and my middle-school daughter was so taken by the mouthwatering visuals and pretty plating that she snapped several photos before we even started eating.

Jambon butter pasta
Served in charming European-style tableware with a delicious smell wafting up — haha, it put me in a good mood before I'd even taken a bite.

Apparently this is Otter Rabbit House's popular pasta made with a Japanese-style miso base. I never imagined a Japanese miso base could pair so elegantly with a Western-style pasta. On top of that, the buttery flavor with fragrant arugula cuts through any heaviness, and then there's the nutty crunch of pistachio — wow, it's so, so delicious.

The noodles were wide and chewy, and they didn't skimp on the jambon ham either — the quality was excellent!!

Ragu tteokbokki
The ragu tteokbokki has become my daughter's favorite tteokbokki — the sauce alone was on a different level. Ground pork and beef along with finely diced vegetables are stir-fried with tomato paste, then simmered slowly for a long time — this handmade sauce was the kicker.

It was definitely a flavor that store-bought sauce or the usual gochujang base could never replicate.

The ragu sauce soaked perfectly into the chewy rice cakes, so every bite was packed with savory flavor,

and with plenty of meat to chew on too, the texture was even better. The nutty, savory-salty flavor of the pasta paired perfectly with the rich, deep umami of the ragu tteokbokki. It was a sophisticated ragu tteokbokki that won over kids and adults alike.
Final thoughts
Otter Rabbit House, the Sangin-dong brunch café I chose for some quality time with my middle-school daughter. The European-style interior was a great space for a relaxed chat with my teenage daughter, and it was all the more satisfying as a brunch spot where you could feel the care put into every dish. If you're looking for a brunch café around Sangin-dong, Dowon-dong, or Woelgwang Waterside Park, I recommend Otter Rabbit House.
