Yonghyeon-dong pizzeria after a walk: bulgogi L & milk crust, Furg

Furg Pizza Inha University Station branch is a dog-friendly pizza restaurant near Inha University in Yonghyeon-dong, Michuhol-gu, Incheon. After an evening walk, the writer ordered a large bulgogi pizza with extra cheese and the whole cheese milk crust, and found the toppings hefty and the bulgogi sauce nicely balanced between sweet and salty. For bulgogi pizza fans, Furg Pizza Inha University Station branch is worth a visit, and the whole cheese milk crust is worth adding.

Anyang shabu-shabu with fresh sujebi for a family of four: Shabu

Shabu Siktak Dongpyeon-maeul Branch (샤브식탁 동편마을직영점) is a shabu-shabu restaurant in Dongpyeon-maeul, Dongan-gu, Anyang, Gyeonggi. On a visit to the writer's parents, three adults and one child shared three B sets, shiitake hasamiage (stuffed fried shiitake, 8,000 won), a fresh sujebi (hand-torn dough flake) add-on and cheese egg porridge, and the staff's unprompted child-sized spoons, rice and seaweed earned high praise from the writer's parents. For a shabu-shabu place in Dongpyeon-maeul that suits every age, Shabu Siktak Dongpyeon-maeul Branch is the number-one pick.

Beomgye conveyor sushi dinner for two: 25 plates at Sushi House

Sushi House is a ₩2,000-a-plate conveyor belt sushi restaurant on the second floor of a building near Beomgye Station in Anyang. On a weekday evening, two people ate 25 plates, including beef tartare sushi, shrimp and egg sushi, salmon onion sushi and seasoned shrimp sushi, plus one Sprite Zero, for ₩52,000 in total. Sushi House in Beomgye is a regular haunt for good-value, varied sushi.

Family weekend café in Anyang: mugwort cream fig choux at Notten

Notten (노튼) is a dog-friendly brunch café on the café street of Dongpyeon-maeul in Anyang, Gyeonggi. On a sunny weekend, the family ordered three iced Americanos and one fig ice cream choux (cream puff) and relaxed on Notten's outdoor terrace. The mugwort cream kept the fig dessert from being too sweet, and the nutty coffee had just the right acidity. Notten is a good Dongpyeon-maeul café to stop at for a break while walking your dog.

Incheon Korean restaurant: choosing sets by food models, Hantiok

Hantiok Lotte Department Store Incheon Branch is a Korean restaurant specializing in guksu (noodle soup) and gukbap (rice soup) on the B1 restaurant floor of Lotte Department Store in Michuhol, Incheon. After shopping, the writer chose a gondre bibimbap set (rice with thistle greens) and a bossam set (boiled pork) from the food models outside Hantiok. Both came with jeyuk pork, boiled pork, mandu (dumplings) and gukbap broth. Hantiok Lotte Department Store Incheon Branch is a good choice for anyone at the department store who wants a mild but filling Korean meal.

On a long-overdue outing together, the writer and her mother shared an iced Americano, a basil tomato ade, two egg tarts, a chewy cheddar cheese cookie and banana-topped French toast (13,000 won). Even the writer's mother, who rarely eats sweet desserts, raved about Eggroom's chewy cheddar cheese cookie, which shows exactly why Eggroom is her favorite café.

Crown volume lifting perm and cut at Velvet Hair, an Anyang hair salon

Velvet Hair is an owner-run, one-person hair salon in Dongpyeon Village, Dongan-gu, Anyang, across from the Dongpyeon Village café street. The writer's mother, a regular who visits Velvet Hair every 2 months, got a cut and a lifting perm (root perm) to bring back volume at the crown and side roots, and Velvet Hair also offers a natural-dye aroma color clinic in the salon. Velvet Hair is worth recommending to anyone who wants to restore a flat crown with natural-looking volume.

Siheung duck BBQ: jumulleok & bibim naengmyeon at Grill Duck

Grill Duck Hangari Barbecue (그릴덕) is a duck restaurant on Beoman-ro in Siheung, Gyeonggi, a 4-minute drive from Starfield City Bucheon. A two-year regular grilled half a duck of duck jumulleok (spicy marinated duck, 400g) and half a raw duck (400g) on Grill Duck's combined induction-and-charcoal grill, added bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles), and finished with drinks from the coffee machine. For an honest-tasting, restorative duck meal with a big parking lot and a tidy self-serve bar, Grill Duck is always a satisfying choice.

Jeongwang Station Korean BBQ where staff grill your pork: Hamdon

Hamdon Jeongwang Main Branch is a pork belly BBQ restaurant in the Jungsim Sangga shopping area of Jeongwang-dong, Siheung, Gyeonggi, where staff grillers cook more than 80% of the meat for you. We ordered 1 serving each of galmaegisal (pork skirt), pork belly and pork neck, wrapped them in minari (Korean water parsley), and added a doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) with whole bone-in pork.
