Keeping a car running well for a long time takes all kinds of maintenance, but engine oil is probably the one thing you absolutely have to keep on schedule. Since my husband and I merged our cars, I've been taking care of his car now and then, and he's been really happy with the results.

Our car is a K8 Hybrid, so I try to be a bit more careful about engine oil management. I liked the process and service at Able Motorworks (에이블모터웍스) from our last oil change, so I went back to the same place again this time.

He was SO happy just from one oil change, so of course I went back to Able again.

It's surprisingly rare to go back to a place you liked once, but I was happy with the work again this time, so I wanted to share it. This time in particular, instead of the Castrol engine oil I used before, I switched to Hexa Multi Synthetic oil.

What is Able Motorworks? An engine oil and light maintenance shop in Bundang

Able Motorworks is an engine oil and light maintenance shop located in Bundang, Seongnam. They handle synthetic engine oil along with synthetic transmission oil, synthetic brake oil, undercoating, and various other vehicle maintenance. It's a good place to visit for an oil change like we did, and also a decent spot to get various light maintenance checked at the same time while you're at it.

Since we drive a K8 Hybrid, I try to keep the oil change interval as close to on-schedule as possible. I don't think of engine oil as something you replace just because it's old — it's more about regularly maintaining the car's condition and protecting the engine.

Why Hexa Multi Synthetic 5W-30 this time instead of Castrol

Last time we used Castrol engine oil, but this time we decided to try something a bit different: Hexa Multi Synthetic oil. They mentioned the product above is roughly the same tier as Castrol, but my husband wanted to try something a little better. Going along with a husband who always prefers the top tier means the spending adds up, haha.

They chose a synthetic oil with excellent coating performance to protect the engine, and filled it to the precise amount for our vehicle. Since different cars need different oils and filters, this part is actually a pretty important piece of an oil change.

At Able Motorworks, they say they prepare OEM filters at no markup for domestic cars, and either OEM or aftermarket parts for imports depending on warranty status. After preparing the parts our car needed, they got started on the actual oil change.

K8 Hybrid oil change process: leftover oil removal and NSP-210 flushing

This visit followed the same step-by-step process as last time. First, they started with an air cleaner filter replacement. Then they drained the old oil thoroughly using the gravity drain method. Watching the old, worn-out oil pour out is such a satisfying feeling, honestly.

They say how cleanly you remove the old oil matters a lot during an oil change, and Able Motorworks includes leftover oil removal as a standard part of the service.

After fully draining the old oil by gravity, they moved on to a performance flushing step. Using their flushing equipment, they clear out as much contamination and residue as possible from the engine while working carefully so as not to put stress on it.

On top of that, they also do flushing, suction, and a new-oil flush using NSP-210 equipment. NSP-210 removes residue inside the engine by connecting the oil filter and oil pan without starting the engine during flushing. This method reportedly helps prevent oil line clogging or micro-damage inside the engine that can happen when flushing with the engine running or with overly strong flushing fluid.

It's reassuring that they don't just drain the old oil and pour in new oil — this extra step of removing leftover oil and contaminants as thoroughly as possible is included too.

From new engine oil fill to leveling

After fully removing the old oil and finishing the flushing process, they replaced the oil filter with a new one and finally poured in today's star, the Hexa Multi Synthetic oil. They filled the precise amount for our car and carefully checked the level afterward.

With engine oil, more isn't necessarily better, and too little is bad too, so getting the right amount matters. Having them check the level right after filling made it feel like they were paying attention right down to the last detail.

Full vehicle check and free scanner diagnostic after the oil change

The car didn't just get sent out right after the oil change was done. They checked the basic fluid levels — washer fluid, coolant, brake oil — and topped up what was needed. They checked the tire pressure too. Able Motorworks also offers a free vehicle diagnostic using the latest scanner for customers getting an oil change.

It was nice being able to check for any error codes at the same time, so I came in for an oil change and got a bonus check on the car's overall condition. Lastly, they did an engine bay dressing with a dedicated chemical, then used the scanner to do an oil reset and check for any fault codes before sending the car out.

Looking for an engine oil change at a Bundang auto shop?

Watching the whole process again this time, I really felt that an engine oil change is all about the care put into it. It's not just draining old oil and pouring in new oil — filter replacement, leftover oil removal, flushing, suction, new-oil flush, leveling, checking various fluids and tires, scanner diagnostics, and oil reset all happen in sequence, so it felt like getting the whole car properly checked over.

Above all, I had such a good memory from my last visit that coming back here felt natural, and they did careful, thorough work again this time. Since I chose Hexa Multi Synthetic oil instead of Castrol this time, I'll be keeping an eye on how the car's condition feels while driving going forward.

If you're driving a car like a K8 Hybrid where you want to keep up steady engine oil maintenance, I think this is a good place to check out when looking for an oil change at a Bundang car center. If you're in the Seongnam area looking for somewhere to get an oil change or light maintenance, it might help to search things like Seongnam oil change or Seongnam car center and compare a few places.

A place you go back to and trust again after one good visit, like we did, is a place you can rely on even more. My husband came along this time and said he finally understood why I liked it so much, haha. I'll be heading back to Able Motorworks for the next oil change too. Seriously, they're the best.
