Daeyeon-dong, Busan BBQ weekend lunch, ₩2,000 self-bar: Daepae Maket

After a weekend morning schedule I needed a meat transfusion, so I headed to Daepae Maket Busan Daeyeon Branch (대패마켙 부산대연점), a pork belly spot in Daeyeon-dong. The value was great and I ate really well, so here's my detailed review.

Parking and location of Daepae Maket Daeyeon

Daepae Maket Busan Daeyeon Branch is at 222 Suyeong-ro, Nam-gu, Busan, on the first floor, right near Daeyeon Station. The partner parking lot covers 1 hour per table.

Take a look at the partner parking notice. One hour is covered per table (not available for bills under ₩40,000).

There's plenty of parking nearby, and it's very close to Daeyeon Station, so it's easy to find.

There's a claw-machine style prize game for kids out front, and since they open from lunchtime on weekends, we came for a weekend lunch.

The interior is very spacious, with more seats further inside and even sofa seating, so I highly recommend it for gatherings or company dinners.

A kids' zone for family gatherings with children

Daepae Maket Daeyeon has a really well-made kids' zone too.

There's a play area inside, so it's a total recommendation for a family gathering with kids!

The menu has the self-bar with about 30 items, plus a variety of meats, meals, drinks and even kids' dishes.

What we ordered: thin pork belly for 3, thin pork neck for 2

You order on the tablet at the table, and we ordered 3 servings of thin-sliced pork belly, 2 servings of thin-sliced pork neck, plus doenjang stew (soybean paste stew) and bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles), going all in.

The self-bar with 30 items for ₩2,000 per person

The self-bar at Daepae Maket Daeyeon has about 30 items for ₩2,000 per person, elementary school age and up. It sits big in the center of the restaurant.

From a variety of wrap vegetables to spring onion salad, pickled onions and all kinds of sauces,

there are ingredients you can grill alongside the meat, plus various kimchi and side dishes.

We brought back a bit of everything, as much as we could eat. The plates come in different sizes too, which was super convenient.

Free fish cake soup and thin pork belly in your chosen thickness

First, the complimentary fish cake soup (eomuk-tang). The broth bubbling away in a kettle was seriously amazing. Best service ever.

Now the thin-sliced pork belly and pork neck. You can choose the thickness of the pork belly, and we went with slightly thicker.

The meat quality passes!

They fill the grill with Jeju thin-sliced pork belly first.

Mushrooms, bracken, sausage, kimchi and bean sprouts get grilled together. You know kimchi grilled in meat fat is a total winner, right?

Even with a big table, it was completely full.

Here's a video of the pork belly being cut! Looking at this meat, I want to run back to Daepae Maket for dinner tonight too.

I picked up a whole pile of nicely cooked thin pork belly.

The wrap vegetables were fresh and varied, so I stuffed my wraps full.

Next, in goes the pork neck!

Beef belly doenjang stew and bibim naengmyeon

The beef belly doenjang stew was ordered too.

It's packed with beef belly.

It's the perfect match with rice.

And of course the bibim naengmyeon, which you can't skip with meat, was ordered too.

The sweet and tangy noodles were delicious too.

I wrapped the noodles in meat too and finished the meal off really well.

Coffee and ice cream for dessert when you leave

Dessert coffee and ice cream are available for departing customers only.

It's only available on your way out, so enjoy one per person as you leave. Any other use costs ₩2,000. I happily finished off with ice cream too.

Overall review of Daepae Maket Daeyeon

I was craving meat after my morning schedule, so I visited Daepae Maket Daeyeon, a pork belly spot in Daeyeon-dong. It's close to where I had errands and open for weekend lunch, and it turned out far more satisfying than I expected.

First, there are several partner parking lots, so coming by car was very convenient. From the spacious interior to the friendly service, good-quality thin-sliced pork at great value, and the self-bar, it's a place I'd happily return to whenever I want thin pork belly.
