Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu Sangam Branch (등촌샤브칼국수 상암점) is a minari shabu and mushroom kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) restaurant on the 2nd floor of the Woori Technology Building in Sangam-dong, Mapo, Seoul. Wanting something light, two women ordered clear-broth mushroom kalguksu for two (11,000 won per person) plus 180g of shabu beef (11,000 won) and finished every bite, from the noodles to the fried rice. If you have only tried the spicy broth, the clear broth at Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu Sangam Branch is a clean, easy lunch worth recommending.

Onjeongban Shabu Kalguksu Namyangju Byeollae Main Branch is a Korean restaurant specializing in shabu-shabu with kalguksu (knife-cut noodles) at Siksong 1-ro in Byeollae, Namyangju. A couple ordered the Onjeongban shabu and eomnamu (castor aralia) herbal boiled pork set for 2 plus a boneless braised monkfish (agujjim) for 2, eating it like a course from self-serve sokdangcha tea and gondeure (Korean thistle) rice through noodles, fried rice and free slush and puffed snacks for dessert. The boneless monkfish is a lot for two people, so a set that already includes it or a group of 3 to 4 is the better choice at Onjeongban.

Sangam-dong eel restaurant: hitsumabushi with red shiso pickles, Ryeok

Ryeok Minmul Jangeogui Jeonmunjeom (력 민물장어구이전문점) is a freshwater eel restaurant in an alley near Digital Media City Station in Sangam-dong, Mapo, Seoul. From the lunch specials, the writer ordered the special eel bowl set (hitsumabushi) for ₩27,000 and ate it in the four ways shown on the table guide. The red shiso leaf tsukemono pairing tasted best, so the writer asked for a refill. With every meal served on its own tray, Ryeok Minmul Jangeogui Jeonmunjeom is a good fit for a Sangam-dong office team lunch.

Gildong Japanese fusion bar date with tuna tartare: Gamdong Dining

Gildong Gamdong Dining (감동다이닝) is a Japanese-inspired fusion dining bar in Gildong, Gangdong, Seoul, between Gubeundari Station and Gildong Station. On a date with her husband, the writer ordered tuna avocado tartare, one whole giant futomaki roll, abalone innards pasta and the hibiscus Gamdong highball, and found both the Japanese-style interior and the food quality satisfying. For a date spot with atmosphere in Gangdong, Gildong Gamdong Dining is a good choice.

Romaok Riverside is a hanok-style Italian restaurant at the start of the Han River stretch of Gangbyeonbuk-ro in Namyangju, Gyeonggi, with a restaurant on the 1st floor, a brunch café and bar on the 2nd and a rooftop on the 3rd. On a weekday off, the writer took Mom to Romaok Riverside, ate the Pizza & Pasta Set for 2 (89,000 won) on the 1st floor and had the set's mugwort tiramisu in the 2nd-floor café. The abalone pasta with gaeu (abalone innards) was the standout, and the Han River and courtyard views make Romaok Riverside a good pick for a meal with parents.
