Weekend lunch after outlet shopping: an opening-time run to Sushi Doku The Songdo
On a beautiful weekend, my husband and I went shopping at Songdo Hyundai Premium Outlet (nicknamed "Songhyeon-a" in Korean)! To fill our hungry stomachs afterward, we headed to Sushi Doku The Songdo, which I had researched and booked in advance.
It's already famous as a great sushi spot in Songdo, Incheon, so we did an "open run" (arriving right at opening time), and it was already full. I was so surprised! Popular places really are different, aren't they?
Where is Sushi Doku The Songdo?
Sushi Doku The Songdo is on the 2nd floor of Onesta Mall in Songdo. It's a perfect spot for the outlet, ideally placed to visit before or after shopping.
Onesta Mall parking: 2 hours free
If you park at Onesta Mall, you get 2 hours of free parking at Sushi Doku The Songdo. The car park is big, so it's really convenient. After parking, just take the elevator up to the 2nd floor and you've arrived!
Atmosphere inside Sushi Doku The Songdo
The restaurant is really clean and classy. There's a curtain in the middle, so it's nice for a cozy, private meal. The staff were also so kind that I felt great throughout the meal. :)
Menu lineup and value for money
Sushi Doku The Songdo has set menus in several combinations, à la carte items and even a kids' menu, so it's good for family meals too. The set meals in particular are really good value for what you get.

Once seated, we ordered the signature Premium Sushi Set for 2. It comes with 10 pieces of main sushi plus sides.

You brush on the soy sauce
Sushi Doku has an unusual way of doing soy sauce: you brush it on. It lets you control how much you use, and it makes eating easy.
Free otoro sushi for a receipt review
A great tip while eating! If you write a Naver receipt review, they give you one piece of otoro (fatty tuna) sushi per person as a freebie. What would I have done if I'd missed it?
The moment the otoro went into my mouth, the fat burst out and it just melted. My husband and I made eye contact, totally moved! If you're looking for a good place in Yeonsu, Incheon, please join in and try this taste.
The Premium Sushi Set is a good-value sushi set and the lineup was truly generous. A hearty spread, and the looks pass too!!
Truffle chawanmushi, udon and salad
The first thing I tried was the truffle chawanmushi, and it was the best way to soothe the stomach with some warmth before the sushi. The subtle truffle aroma that spreads the moment you lift the lid really whets the appetite, and the texture melting in your mouth was a work of art. ✨
The udon had chewy noodles, the broth was seasoned just right, and it was hot, which I loved.

How did the 10 pieces of sushi taste?
The 10 pieces of sushi in the Premium Sushi Set let you try a variety of nigiri, which is very good.
The aging is incredibly well done, giving a superb chewy texture. The sweetness seeps out the more you chew, and I immediately understood why Sushi Doku The Songdo is called a powerhouse of Japanese food in Incheon. The fish is so fresh there's no fishy taste at all, just pure cleanness.

The salmon spreads a rich, nutty flavor the moment it hits your mouth, and it's so tender. Salmon is love, after all...♡

Add the crunch of freshly fried tempura and it was a perfect lunch!

If you're looking for a place near Tekeunopakeu Station or proper sushi in Incheon, go to Sushi Doku The Songdo without hesitating! Food quality, service and a clean atmosphere, nothing was lacking, so I strongly recommend it both as a date course and for a family meal out. I'm planning to go again soon with my parents!
