Are you looking for a proper Chinese restaurant near Sangdong Station in Bucheon, one that does a spicy, smoky-flavored jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) well?? It's surprisingly hard these days to find a Chinese place I really like, and I was feeling frustrated. After searching endlessly for tasty Chinese restaurants and trekking around to try them, I ended up at Glory Works (글로리웍스), near Save Zone by Sangdong Station!!

Glory Works, a Chinese restaurant near Save Zone at Sangdong Station

I visited as part of a sponsored review program, but I'm not just saying it's good to match the mood. It's been a while since I found a truly great Chinese restaurant, and I loved it!! The inside is pleasant and clean, a nice easy place to drop in for lunch~ I went early, right at opening time, and there were already customers eating, so it's clearly popular haha

What we ordered for lunch at Glory Works

At Glory Works I ordered jjajangmyeon (black bean sauce noodles, ₩8,000) with the upsized portion (+₩2,000), the signature Glory Jjamppong (₩14,000), and crispy fried dumplings (₩6,000), a nicely full spread!!

Glory Works doesn't make food ahead of time. The kitchen starts cooking as soon as an order comes in, so everything arrives fresher and hotter!!

Is the rice at the Glory Works self-serve bar unlimited?

Yes, at the Glory Works self-serve bar you can take as much steamed rice as you like. While waiting for our food I went over to the self-serve bar,

and there was piping hot rice, steaming away!! Being able to take unlimited rice was a real plus~ I love chewy noodles, but I also love mixing rice into the leftover broth or sauce at the end, so this service made me very happy haha After a short wait, the dishes arrived one after another,

Is Glory Jjamppong worth 14,000 won?

Glory Works' Glory Jjamppong is packed with seafood, beef and fish roe (algonii), so ₩14,000 felt justified. I'd expected it to be the highlight, and at first the price seemed a bit high, but one look at the ingredients and I nodded right away!! There was fresh, clean-tasting seafood, plus tender beef and rich, nutty fish roe, generously piled in. How could that combination not taste good!!

I took one spoonful of the broth and it was spicy yet deep and smooth thanks to the beef, the real deal!!

I liked the subtle smoky wok aroma that wasn't overdone, and the popping fish roe and the texture of the seafood added a deep flavor that wasn't harsh or artificial!!

Tasting the noodles and toppings of the Glory Jjamppong

I was so satisfied that for the first time in a while I didn't leave a drop of jjamppong broth, and I mixed in rice and slurped up everything!!

How does the large jjajangmyeon with a runny fried egg taste?

The jjajangmyeon at Glory Works (₩8,000, upsized +₩2,000) comes topped with a runny fried egg, fried until golden. The jjajangmyeon that came next had a carefully placed runny fried egg on top, so it passed on looks alone!!

I broke the golden yolk and tossed it through the noodles and jjajang sauce, and the nuttiness and savory depth really came up!!

The seasoning was pleasantly moderate, not too salty, and the sauce was rich but not gloopy, so the noodles went down easily~

The mild sweetness and clean flavor were well balanced, so I think kids would love it too!!

How many fried dumplings do you get for 6,000 won at Glory Works?

The fried dumplings at Glory Works (₩6,000) came with 8 pieces, pan-fried golden brown!!

They weren't hard or tough on the outside. They were crispy enough to crackle pleasantly, moist inside and crunchy outside, perfect alongside the jjajangmyeon and jjamppong!!

Is Glory Works a good office lunch near Sangdong Station?

Here are my 3 personal takeaways and tips after visiting and eating at Glory Works!!

  • First, the smoky jjamppong broth is excellent, packed with beef, seafood and fish roe, and deep and smooth rather than artificial!!
  • Second, the runny-egg jjajangmyeon and crispy fried dumplings are a perfect pairing, and the seasoning overall is moderate, never overdone!!
  • Third, the restaurant is clean and you can take unlimited rice, so it's a great lunch spot for office workers near Sangdong Station!!

If you're craving really good Chinese food or a bowl of spicy jjamppong near Sangdong Station, definitely stop by Glory Works!!
