Hi, it's Nyam Nyam Hye! Looking for a solid lunch spot for solo dining or a group dinner near Daechi-dong and Seonleung Station? My boyfriend suddenly wanted eel, and since grilling eel ourselves felt like a lot of work, I wanted something simple but filling, so I went to Manmok for their eel rice bowl. It melted in my mouth and I was so satisfied.

How to walk to Manmok from Seonleung Station, and where to park

Located near Seonleung Station and the Daechi-dong restaurant alley, Manmok has a clean, upscale look from the outside! Come out of Seonleung Station Exit 2, walk straight for about 273m, then head into the alley — you'll spot it easily.

That said, the parking space inside the building is quite small, fitting only about 2 cars! I got lucky and there was an open spot right when I arrived, so I parked right away. If the lot in front is full, don't worry — just use a nearby parking lot!

Inside, you'll find everything from a bar table to private seating, all neatly arranged.

There's a bar table where you can eat comfortably alone without feeling self-conscious, which is perfect for office workers coming in for a solo lunch! The seating gaps are spacious too, which I really liked.

Also, at lunch it's run neatly around the single eel rice bowl menu, but dinner is a different story! The dinner-only menu includes special eel nabe hot pot, hanwoo nabe hot pot, and crispy, savory special grilled eel, making it a great spot for after-work group dinners with drinks too.

Why Manmok uses only Gochang freshwater eel, grilled Kanto style

The real reason Manmok is a genuine Daechi-dong favorite: they insist on using only carefully selected 100% Gochang freshwater eel.

On top of that, they stick to the Kanto-style method of steaming the eel before grilling it, so the texture is more tender than you'd imagine! Even people sensitive to fishy smells can enjoy it worry-free — it's clean and savory.

Finally, the main dish I'd been waiting for — the eel rice bowl! I ordered a half portion, my boyfriend ordered a whole. *Unless you have a small appetite, I'd honestly recommend going with the whole portion! I'm not a big eater, but it was so good that the half portion left me wanting more, haha. The moment the lid came off, the glossy sheen on the eel had me genuinely gasping.

The bones were perfectly removed, so it went down super smoothly, and the sweet, deep special sauce had soaked all the way into the flesh of the eel! Put a piece of eel on the rice with a touch of wasabi and it just melts in your mouth — seriously amazing... the perfect balance of sweet and salty! Wow.

The presentation is so neat and refined, it just puts you in a good mood.

It tasted exactly like the eel I had on a trip to Fukuoka (just my personal opinion). No need to go to Fukuoka, haha.

Draft beer, egg pudding and white kimchi at Manmok

I just couldn't help it, so I ordered a glass of draft beer right away. My boyfriend had to drive, so it was just one glass for me. The egg pudding that came as a side dish was so soft and perfectly seasoned that I slurped it all up. When things get a bit rich, the white kimchi and radish salad pair perfectly with the Korean palate.
