Millak-dong pork cutlet house: cutlet on bibim noodles, Yangchonri

In short

Yangchonri Donkaseu Millak Branch is a pork cutlet restaurant on the 2nd floor of the Jeil Punggyeongchae Centum shopping arcade in Millak-dong, Uijeongbu. The order was the Yangchonri 2-person set (pork cutlet plus fire-grilled spicy baby octopus) with bibim noodles (spicy mixed noodles) added for ₩7,500. The cutlet was the size of two adult palms and came with ssamjang (spicy dipping paste) and green chilies, while the baby octopus had a deep smoky char. The real fun at Yangchonri Donkaseu was laying the cutlet over the noodles and over the octopus bibimbap.

How to get to Yangchonri Donkaseu Millak Branch

The route to the 2nd floor of Jeil Punggyeongchae Centum mall

Yangchonri Donkaseu Millak Branch is on the 2nd floor of the Jeil Punggyeongchae Centum building, so it's an easy walk. Getting to good food is always exciting, but a confusing route can tire you out before you even eat. This restaurant, though, is really easy to reach — anyone can find it without trouble.

If you're walking, aim for the 2nd floor of Jeil Punggyeongchae Centum. First, find the Starbucks Millak Town branch on the 1st floor of the building. Walk a little to the left from Starbucks and you'll see Saemaul Sikdang, and right next to it is the entrance to the GAT.B MALL commercial section. Come in through this entrance, take the elevator right in front of you up to the 2nd floor, and the restaurant I'm introducing today appears right in front of you. No need to wander through complicated alleys — with the big building and the famous café as landmarks, I didn't get lost at all even on my first visit.

1 hour of free parking

For parking at Yangchonri Donkaseu Millak Branch, use the B1 mall parking lot at Jeil Punggyeongchae Centum, and if you ask at the counter to register your car, you get 1 hour free. When you're driving, the first thing you check is whether there's parking and how spacious it is. This building has a very large mall-only parking lot in the basement, so you don't have to worry about it.

After entering the parking ramp, turn right and drive all the way in, then turn right once more, and you'll find the area closest to the mall entrance. Park comfortably near that far end and take the mall's dedicated elevator up to the 2nd floor — the perfect route.

When you pay after your meal, ask the counter staff to register your car in advance, and you'll get 1 hour of free parking. Even if you go over an hour, the extra fee is just a reasonable ₩1,000 per 30 minutes, so it's no burden even if you linger around the area a bit after eating.

A retro-vibe entrance and business hours

Arriving on the 2nd floor and approaching the storefront, the clean yet somehow nostalgic exterior catches your eye. Through the clear glass windows you can glimpse the kitchen busy at work, which built a sense of trust and got my mouth watering even before I walked in.

Business hours and break time notice posted on the door

On the window, the friendly name Yangchonri Donkaseu was written along with a phrase saying it keeps the flavor and warm hospitality of those old days, which only raised my expectations further. Checking the hours posted on the door, it opens daily at 11:00 a.m. and runs until 9:00 p.m. There's a break time from 3 to 5 p.m. to prepare even tastier food, so you should avoid visiting during that window. Last order is taken only until 8:30 p.m., so if you're planning a late dinner here, please keep the time in mind so you don't make a wasted trip.

Yangchonri Donkaseu menu and prices

The signature menu at Yangchonri Donkaseu Millak Branch, the Yangchonri pork cutlet, is ₩9,900, and the fire-grilled spicy octopus rice bowl is ₩12,900. Sitting down, I first looked over the big menu board on the wall. There were fried dishes, rice bowls, noodle dishes, and side dishes — so many options that choosing became a happy dilemma.

The signature Yangchonri pork cutlet caught my eye at a nice sub-₩10,000 price of ₩9,900, and for those who like it spicy, the fire-grilled spicy octopus rice bowl is ₩12,900. If a cool noodle dish sounds good, you can also choose bibim noodles at ₩7,500 or fish cake udon at ₩9,000. While I was agonizing over wanting to try a bit of everything, a poster on the wall caught my eye.

It was the Yangchonri 2-person set, letting you enjoy both the octopus rice bowl and the fried cutlet at once... The combination looked so full that I stopped agonizing and decided right away to order the 2-person set with an added bibim noodles.

The size of the cutlet and the ssamjang and green chili side

Not long after ordering, the main dish, served on a large black plate, was the first thing placed on the table. Even looking back at the photo, you can feel the scale — it was overwhelmingly bigger than two adult palms combined. The outer coating was fried so crisply, full and alive, that even lightly scraping it with a fork made a crisp, cheerful sound.

A scoop of savory rice, a thinly shredded cabbage salad drizzled generously with sweet-and-sour dressing, and thin pickled radish for a refreshing finish were all prettily arranged alongside.

Unusually, a small dish of ssamjang and a whole long green chili came alongside — a really distinctive touch. The chili was clearly there to cut through any greasiness from the fried cutlet, showing off the owner's sense for a perfectly balanced plate.

Fire-grilled octopus — how strong is the smoky char?

Next up was the octopus stir-fry, its deep red sauce fiercely stirring up the appetite.

Octopus legs and scallions stir-fried with sesame seeds

Just seeing it piled generously on a white plate made my mouth water, and the moment it hit the table, the heavy smoky char hitting my nose was no joke. Plump, glossy octopus legs and thick-cut crunchy scallions were stir-fried perfectly with the spicy sauce. Sprinkled with black and white sesame seeds for extra nuttiness, the look alone was a pass mark. Biting in, the texture was chewy without being tough, wonderfully tender, and the heat wasn't artificial capsaicin spice but a pleasantly sweat-inducing smoky fire flavor.

Piled generously over rice and mixed together, it was excellent, and dipping the crispy, mild cutlet from before into the sauce made a combination that was better than I imagined.

The added bibim noodles, ₩7,500

Bibim noodles served in a stainless bowl

The cold noodle dish, a rescue pitcher to refresh a spicy, greasy palate, was also an essential part of the meal. Served in a silver stainless bowl, it looked like neatness itself at first sight. Over a heap of thin white somyeon noodles were crunchy yellow bean sprouts, shredded cabbage, green crown daisy, and a generous sprinkle of black seaweed flakes for extra savoriness. Alongside was a generous pour of deep red house sauce, and as I mixed it with my chopsticks, a sweet-and-sour aroma rose up that made it hard to stop.

Mixed evenly, you could see the red sauce soaking into every strand of the thin, chewy noodles. The crunch of the vegetables and the chewiness of the noodles make a flavor that people of all ages would love without exception.

How to combine the cutlet, octopus, and bibim noodles

A full spread of cutlet, octopus, and bibim noodles

The real reason this meal was special was the fun of mixing and matching these strongly distinct dishes together.

Cutlet piled on top of bibim noodles

Scooping up a big bite of the well-mixed sweet-and-spicy noodles and piling a thick, crispy piece of cutlet on top before eating it together — that moment of joy is still vivid to me.

Another strong recommendation is mixing the richly seasoned octopus with rice on a separate spoon, then topping it with a piece of cutlet for a full mouthful. The richness of biting chewy and crispy textures together at once is a privilege you can only get here.

This restaurant was perfect from start to finish — I strongly recommend saving it as your next dining spot.
