I wanted really good yangdaechang (beef intestine BBQ) near Dangsan Station, so I headed to Chodaechang. It's a meat restaurant near Dangsan Station where you can try daechang, teugyang, makchang and heart all in one go, and the staff grill everything for you, so the meal was relaxed. The charcoal-grilled mixed platter was especially nutty and delicious, so let me tell you about it.
Chodaechang Dangsan Station: location, hours and parking
Chodaechang Dangsan Station is right outside Exit 11 of Dangsan Station, and it's open every day from 5 PM to 11 PM all year round. Last order is 10 PM, so it was easy to stop by after work by public transport. You can park in front of the restaurant, and if there's no space, use a nearby public car park.
It's a yangdaechang specialist built on 11 years of know-how, listed in the Blue Ribbon Survey 2024 and also featured on the TV show Live Today (Saengbangsong Today).

Its own meat distribution know-how keeps prices easier on the wallet, too. If you book through Naver, one bottle of wine corkage is free, so it looked like a good place for a special occasion.
How are the smoke and smell at Chodaechang?
The bright, clean interior stood out, and there wasn't much smoke while the meat was grilling. Unlike typical offal restaurants, the room felt pleasant, which I liked.
Above all, it was convenient that the staff grilled everything from start to finish. They cooked each cut to the right doneness and cut it into bite-size pieces, so we could chat and just focus on eating. If smell or smoke has made you hesitate about going to a yangdaechang place, this Dangsan Station meat restaurant should satisfy you.
Mixed Grill A at ₩66,000: what's in it, plus side dishes

We ordered Chodaechang's Mixed Grill A for ₩66,000. It's a yangdaechang platter with four cuts, daechang, teugyang (a thick tripe cut), makchang (abomasum) and heart, and I'd recommend it for a first visit.

The basic side dishes were bread salad, pickled garlic stems and fresh-tossed lettuce salad (geotjeori). The tangy geotjeori and crunchy pickled garlic stems cut through the richness of the meat nicely.

First up: heart
In Mixed Grill A, the staff grilled the heart first. It was tender but still had that springy bite it's known for. The mild juices spread through my mouth and got my appetite going from the very first item.

Daechang packed with gop
Next, the curled-up daechang turned golden brown. It's full of gop (the creamy fat inside), so you get a rich, nutty flavor the moment you bite in. The outside is a little crispy and the inside moist, a great contrast in texture. It wasn't as greasy as I expected, so I kept reaching for more.

My favorite cut: teugyang
Personally, the best cut in Chodaechang's mixed grill was the teugyang. It's finely scored, so it cooked evenly over the charcoal, and the crunchy, chewy texture got better the more I chewed. It isn't tough but still fun to chew, and it was the most memorable of the four cuts.

Last: charcoal-scented makchang
The makchang I tried last was pleasantly springy yet soft to chew. A faint charcoal aroma soaked in, giving it great flavor, and a savory taste kept rising the more I chewed.

Because everything is grilled over charcoal, the excess grease drops away and the natural flavor comes through even more.
Garlic and chili peppers grilled alongside
The garlic and shishito-style peppers (kkwari gochu) grilled together with the meat were a treat too. Sweet, softened garlic and peppers with a gentle kick were even better with the meat. Comparing four cuts, each with its own charm, was part of the fun of this yangdaechang mixed grill.
Who is Chodaechang Dangsan Station for?
I'd recommend Chodaechang Dangsan Station to anyone who wants several cuts of yangdaechang in one place. Thanks to the grilling service you can eat comfortably, and since it's right by Dangsan Station, it looked good for after-work dinners or get-togethers with friends.

If you usually only eat daechang, I especially recommend the mixed grill so you can try teugyang, heart and makchang too. A clean restaurant, that charcoal-grill flavor and easy access all won me over at Chodaechang, the Dangsan Station meat spot! I'd happily go back on a day I'm craving a tasty yangdaechang mixed grill.
