I visited Songrimbok Jangeo Freshwater Eel Unlimited Refill Cheongna Direct Branch, an eel restaurant in Cheongna, Seohae-gu, Incheon. They use thick, fresh eel, and besides eel you can also enjoy plenty of pork belly and duck neck — a real eel destination in Seohae-gu.
Where is Songrimbok in Cheongna, and where do you park?
It's on the first floor of a building at Cheongna-dong 152-14, Incheon, right in front of Cheongna Lake Park, so it's a nice spot for a walk after eating. The building's underground parking lot is spacious, so parking was easy.
Opening hours and where the eel comes from

This Seohae-gu Cheongna eel spot is open daily from 11:50 AM to 11:00 PM, using fresh freshwater eel brought in from the wholesale market that morning. Takeout is also available. I could see traces left behind by other well-known eel enthusiasts who'd visited before me.
What the dining room at Songrimbok looks like

Here's the interior of this Seohae-gu eel restaurant. The décor was clean and stylish, with a good vibe, and there were plenty of tables. As a well-known spot in Cheongna, it draws crowds even on weekdays, and it looked great for group gatherings, work dinners or family outings — high chairs were also available.
Menu and prices at Songrimbok Cheongna
At Songrimbok Jangeo Freshwater Eel Cheongna Direct Branch, the adult price is ₩29,900, child is ₩14,000, toddler is ₩7,000, and there's a ₩3,000 table setting fee. À la carte options included yukgaejang (spicy beef soup), eel soup, buckwheat noodles (cold or spicy), spicy ramen, rice, and more.

There were also new, more affordable options like a charcoal-grilled eel / charcoal-grilled pressed pork with buckwheat noodle set, steamed egg, and nurungji (scorched rice). For the tastiest way to grill the eel at this Cheongna eel spot: place the fresh eel skin-side down first, cook it through well, then finish evenly on all sides for the best flavor.
What's at the self-serve side dish bar
The self-serve corner had a variety of side dishes and bowls — green onion kimchi, pickled onion, pickled perilla leaves, aged kimchi, garlic, lettuce, perilla leaves, ssamjang (dipping sauce), eel sauce, and shredded ginger, all neatly arranged and ready to eat.

The eel was neatly prepped and ready to grill, and pork neck, pork belly and duck neck were also prepared. Being able to eat pork belly and duck neck alongside the main event — eel — was a nice touch.
The table setting and grilling the freshwater eel
After finding a seat, the basic table setting arrived: one plate with fresh eel, pork belly and duck neck, along with side dishes — green onion kimchi, pickled onion, shredded ginger, pickled perilla leaves, aged kimchi, eel sauce, ssamjang and garlic with wrap vegetables. They paired nicely with the eel and meat and tasted great.

The eel was impressively cleaned, thick and fresh, and it got grilled to perfection on the hot plate for us.

At a glance, you could tell they were using quality eel — the visuals really showed it, with generous size, thick cuts and a hearty portion.

I love eel and often visit places known for it, and this one ranked among the best I've had.
How did the freshwater eel taste?

There was barely any fishy smell, and you could really taste a rich, deep flavor — it was delicious. The texture was firm yet tender when chewed, and the eel's natural flavor and juices spread through my mouth in the best way.

The taste was clean, savory and rich, and being able to eat as much as I wanted was a real plus. It was crisp on the outside and moist on the inside — genuinely enjoyable to eat.

It was delicious plain, and just as good with shredded ginger and eel sauce, or wrapped in vegetables with whatever side dishes suited my taste — each combination brought out the flavor nicely.
Pork belly and duck neck on the same plate

I grilled pork belly and duck neck alongside the eel, and it was nice being able to try such a variety — and of course, all of it was delicious.

The duck neck at this Cheongna spot had a tender texture, making it a good option for anyone who can't eat eel.
