Hanmaeum Jeongyuk Sikdang Wonju Innovation City (한마음정육식당 원주혁신도시점) is a butcher-shop-style Korean BBQ restaurant on the first floor of the Hanaro Mart building in Wonju Innovation City, Gangwon. The writer, a regular since Hanmaeum opened, had the half pig (43,900 won) at lunch with a friend and found pajeori (scallion salad) served with jjolmyeon (chewy spicy noodles), a large self-bar, a kids' play area and vanilla ice cream for dessert. Verdict: Hanmaeum Jeongyuk Sikdang's generous sides and extras make it a good fit for family and group Korean BBQ meals in Wonju.
Yun Ujae Shabu Kalguksu Gogidong Branch is a shabu-kalguksu (shabu-shabu with knife-cut noodles) restaurant on Gogi-ro in Suji-gu, Yongin, where 11,500 won per person covers shabu-shabu, kalguksu and fried rice. On a weekend, the writer ordered 3 servings of the mild broth and a crispy seafood pajeon (savory pancake) with their parents, and both parents loved Yun Ujae's chewy flat noodles and the thick fried rice cooked after the broth is drained. Yun Ujae is a good fit for a family meal that needs both good value and generous portions.
Yeon Makchang Dangye Branch (연막창 단계점) is a newly opened pork makchang (grilled pork intestine) restaurant in Dangye-dong, Wonju, Gangwon. After work, the writer booked through Naver and ordered 2 servings of par-grilled makchang and 1 serving of par-grilled premium makchang (₩14,000 each) with somaek (soju mixed with beer), then added yeolmu bibim guksu (spicy young radish kimchi noodles) from the review event and a yogurt slush. Staff grill and cut the makchang at the table, and the chewy makchang dipped in makjang sauce was the highlight of Yeon Makchang Dangye Branch.
