Italian restaurant in Pocheon with a hydrangea terrace: From Italy
In short
From Italy (프롬이태리) is an Italian restaurant on Jugyeopsan-ro in Soheul-eup, Pocheon, Gyeonggi, about a 6-minute drive from Gwangneung Arboretum. On a weekday lunch during a drive date, the writer and her husband ordered the gebawi pasta, a blueberry and Hawaiian half-and-half pizza, and green grape and lemon ades, then explored the outdoor terrace in hydrangea bloom. With its medieval European-style interior, garden and satisfying food from the starter bread to the mains, From Italy is a date restaurant in Pocheon worth recommending.

My husband and I finally went on a drive date to Pocheon again ❤ After visiting Gwangneung Arboretum, we wanted lunch somewhere with a nice atmosphere, so we came to From Italy (프롬이태리). The mood was great and the food was so good. This is my recommendation review of From Italy, a great spot near Gwangneung Arboretum and a Pocheon date course :)

From Italy is about 6 minutes by car from Gwangneung Arboretum. There's a big parking lot out front, so no parking worries! We came around 12 on a weekday and many tables were already full, and guests kept coming in while we ate. Since it's a popular spot near Gwangneung Arboretum, I recommend reserving on Naver in advance for weekends or special occasions!
What is the atmosphere like at From Italy in Pocheon?
From Italy looks like a detached house in the European countryside from the outside, and it's so pretty!

It has been selected as a Blue Ribbon restaurant every year since 2019, so my expectations were already up as we walked in.

The interior is honestly crazy good. Total medieval European vibes!! There were all kinds of objects and framed pictures, and the soft lighting made the mood so nice. Just walking in puts you in a good mood >.<
1st floor only on weekdays, 2nd floor open on weekends
From Italy has a 1st and 2nd floor, but on the weekday we visited only the 1st floor was in use, and we were told the 2nd floor opens on weekends. The 2nd floor is also crazy pretty!! The restrooms are on the 1st floor, separate for men and women, so they're easy to use.
The outdoor hydrangea terrace at From Italy
There's also an outdoor terrace outside From Italy. You can't eat there, but you can go out and relax freely.

The hydrangeas were in pretty bloom and it's decorated like a small European garden, so on a nice day it looked perfect for stepping out with a cup of coffee!
From Italy menu and what we ordered

Here's the From Italy menu. As a traditional Western restaurant, it has pizza, pasta, risotto and steak, plus wine, drinks, coffee and course meals. This is what we ordered.
- Gebawi pasta (게바위파스타)
- Half-and-half pizza (blueberry + Hawaiian)
- Green grape ade
- Lemon ade
Starter bread: squid ink ciabatta

At From Italy, starter bread and drinks come out before the mains. We were told it's squid ink ciabatta made in-house and aged for over 14 hours. It was moist inside with a chewy texture, and the bread alone was delicious haha. It got me even more excited for the mains!

What does From Italy's gebawi pasta taste like?
The first dish out was the gebawi pasta. It looked amazing, with fried crab, mussels, baby octopus and other seafood, baby greens, and a puffed bread (gongal-ppang, a hollow, airy bread). We were told to break up the puffed bread and mix it into the pasta sauce!

The gebawi pasta was the kind where the cream sauce and the savory depth from the seafood blend together naturally! The rich flavor of the crab, the cream sauce and the seafood aroma were so good that I kept exclaiming as I ate.

The noodles weren't mushy but cooked to a nice al dente, which was exactly my taste personally :)

How is the blueberry and Hawaiian half-and-half pizza?
The half-and-half pizza at From Italy came with half blueberry pizza and half Hawaiian pizza.

I ordered the blueberry pizza without big expectations, just out of curiosity. Surprisingly, I really enjoyed it!! The moderately sweet blueberry sauce, the savory cheese and the chewy dough were so good. I think kids would love it too!

On the Hawaiian pizza, the mild tartness of the pineapple and the saltiness of the ham went well together. Add the cheese and it's a sweet-and-salty combo that can't possibly taste bad haha.

The blueberry and Hawaiian combination wasn't heavy and finished the meal cleanly, so it was a satisfying choice :)

Is From Italy a good date restaurant near Gwangneung Arboretum?
From the moment we walked in, From Italy felt like a trip to Europe. From the exterior to the interior and the outdoor terrace, every corner felt carefully considered, and the food was great from the starter bread to the mains. If you're looking for a date restaurant in Pocheon or a good place near Gwangneung Arboretum, I recommend From Italy :)
