During exam season, so many students are hunting for a café to study in (ㅠㅠ). I find I study better in a quiet, comfortable café like this than in places that are too loud or have tables packed close together!! It's great for doing assignments with a friend, or coming alone with your laptop.

The self-serve bar has tissues and water. And the Wi-Fi works really well. At other cafés around the university the Wi-Fi keeps cutting out and I've gotten absolutely furious, but here it's solid.

The menu has way more variety than you might expect. First, since caffeine is a must during exams: a 1-liter americano for ₩6,900! The ahsatchu (iced tea with espresso shots) is ₩9,500, so 3-4 times the usual size at a fair price. No more going back and forth to buy coffee, you can handle it all in one go.

Drinks

Regular drinks include americano ₩3,500, café latte ₩4,000, Eopcheonri coffee ₩4,500, vanilla bean latte ₩4,900, ABC juice (apple, beet, carrot) ₩5,500 and ade ₩4,900, among others. An americano in the ₩3,000s is a total pass from me, in the best way.

Poke salad

For meals there are poke salads, sandwiches, tortilla wraps and more. The basic poke salad is ₩9,900, chicken tender poke ₩11,900, smoked duck poke ₩12,600, flank steak poke ₩12,600 and salmon poke ₩14,600.

Sandwiches

The ham & cheese, strawberry jam egg mayo and sweet pumpkin sandwiches are ₩6,900; bulgogi, chicken breast, chicken tender, shrimp and crab sandwiches are ₩7,900; the salmon sandwich is ₩8,400.

Tortilla wraps

Chicken, shrimp and ham & cheese wraps are ₩4,900; bulgogi, smoked duck and salmon wraps are ₩5,900. If you just want something light, I recommend a wrap! You order at the kiosk.

Desserts

There are plenty of desserts too, and whenever I grab one they're all delicious!! Perfect for when you get peckish while studying. Eopcheonri seed hotteok (sweet filled pancake) is ₩2,000 and root-vegetable bread is ₩3,000.

How does Eopcheonri382 wrap takeout orders?

Instead of a plain disposable plastic bag, they pack takeout in a bojagi-style wrapping cloth! It's more reusable than you'd think, looks neat, and even gives you a picnic feeling.

I ordered the salmon poke, kaya toast, strawberry jam egg mayo sandwich and an iced americano. It was packed neatly, and the menu is checked off on top so you can tell what's what right away.

Doesn't it pass on looks alone? It's packed so prettily and the prices are fair, so I've lost count of how many times I've come back. I've been going since my college days, back when tigers smoked pipes (okay, ages ago), so N years now. It's my go-to Chungbuk National University spot.

What does the strawberry jam egg mayo sandwich taste like?

The strawberry jam egg mayo sandwich (₩6,900) adds the sweetness of strawberry jam to the rich, soft flavor of egg mayo. The combination sounds a bit unusual from the name alone, right?! It felt different from a typical ham & cheese or egg sandwich.

With soft egg mayo and sweet strawberry jam together, it works as a snack and would also be fine for breakfast or brunch. There was a lot more egg mayo than I expected, and it went well with the jam. It was way better than I expected. Somewhere between dessert and a meal?! Super tasty!

Does Eopcheonri382's kaya toast go well with coffee?

The kaya toast pairs the sweetness of kaya jam (coconut egg jam) with savory bread, making a dessert that goes nicely with coffee. A perfect match with the iced americano I bought with it!

Highly recommended if you like the sweet-yet-savory taste of kaya jam. The butter is the kicker. I really meant to eat only 2 pieces, but before I knew it I'd finished all 4.. I keep turning into a big eater.

Is Eopcheonri382's salmon poke still good the next day?

I ate the salmon poke (₩14,600) the next day, and eating the vegetables and salmon together felt clean and fresh. The salmon portion was generous too!

I swung the bag around while carrying it, so the look got a bit messed up, but it had brown rice, salmon and even a grilled egg!! And a really wide variety of vegetables.
