Tangjeong, Asan pasta café: jambon tomato pasta, When You Bite
In short
When You Bite (웬유바이트) is a brunch café and pasta restaurant on Maegokhandeul 8-gil in Tangjeong-myeon, Asan, Chungnam. At lunchtime the parking lot beside When You Bite was full, so the writer parked on the road, then ordered the jambon tomato pasta (around ₩17,000) and the signature basil pesto shrimp pasta (₩19,000) with iced Americano. With big windows and a wine wall in a spacious hall, When You Bite is a good spot for a brunch get-together, and the T-bone steak is worth trying next time.

It's been a while since I went out for brunch ^^ This place has been name-dropped as a Tangjeong favorite for ages, so I was curious, and I finally made it. It's When You Bite (웬유바이트) in Asan!

Location and hours of When You Bite
When You Bite is at 72 Maegokhandeul 8-gil, Tangjeong-myeon, Asan, Chungnam. It's open 09:30–19:00 and closed every Monday and Tuesday.
The glass entrance already felt special. There was also a sign saying it was chosen twice as an excellent business in the dining category at the 2026 Korea Consumer Industry Evaluation, which made me even more eager to try it.
Where to park at When You Bite
There's plenty of parking space beside the shop. But at lunchtime, when we went, every spot was full T_T

So we parked on the road and headed in.
Big windows and a wall of wine: inside When You Bite
With all those big windows, the interior felt really bright and warm. Every seat was already taken, but the tables are spaced widely, so you can chat comfortably without worrying about the next table. I liked that.

The moment I saw the wall packed with wine, I went "wow" out loud. It seems great for brunch, and for a wine dinner in the evening too.

Through the arched window you can see a space full of plants. It has total café vibes and is a perfect photo spot!! There was also a baby chair set up on one side.

There are large wooden tables too, so it looks roomy enough for bigger groups.
When You Bite menu and prices
Menu photos are lined up in front of the counter, which made choosing easy. A Naver receipt review event was running too.

The menu is so varied that I agonized over it. I decided to save the steak for next time and go mostly with pasta this round.

You can preview the signature dishes ahead of time: the jambon-beurre, jambon rigatoni cream pasta, Iberico steak au poivre, and bread with truffle.
Today's table: jambon tomato pasta and basil pesto shrimp pasta
We ordered two dishes at When You Bite: the signature basil pesto shrimp pasta and the jambon tomato pasta! Both plates looked delicious from the first glance.

Jambon tomato pasta
The jambon tomato pasta uses house-made, low-sodium jambon (cured ham) from Korean pork, with a rich tomato sauce simmered for 8 hours.

The tomato sauce isn't just sour; a gentle sweetness and savory depth go nicely together. The noodles were cooked just right and the sauce soaked in moistly. Good!!
Signature basil pesto shrimp pasta
They say the signature basil pesto shrimp pasta comes from a recipe they've kept for 10 years,

and from the first bite the basil aroma burst out and I chewed into plump shrimp. So satisfying. It wasn't salty but clean-tasting, the kind you keep reaching for.

Dipping the bread, which came with green olives, into the sauce was a treat too.

The shrimp were springy and nutty, and there were sooo many of them ^^

No meal is complete without coffee. The iced Americano, sipped between bites, had a nutty flavor and went really well with the food, clean and crisp!!
Receipt review event and final thoughts

When You Bite had an event where you leave a Naver receipt review and get a caramel sundae ice cream!! It's small, but little events like this make a visit more fun.
You sit down, look out the window, and pick your menu at leisure, so it's perfect for a brunch meetup. Sour pasta, then sweet ice cream to finish: a perfect meal!! How does that sound?

If you're looking for brunch or a good pasta place in Asan, especially around Tangjeong, I recommend When You Bite! Next time I'm definitely trying the T-bone steak.
