Conveyor-belt sushi in Seosan with gamtae: Mikado Sushi
In short
Mikado Sushi is a conveyor-belt sushi restaurant in Seoknim-dong, Seosan, where every plate costs 2,100 won. My husband and I built a tower of plates with fresh salmon, gamtae, flame-seared beef sushi, ramen, and menbosha. A great value for a filling variety of sushi.

What are the parking and atmosphere like?

Here is the exterior of Mikado Sushi, a great sushi restaurant in Seoknim-dong, Seosan. It is in the Seoknim-dong dining area, so getting there is very easy. The yellow sign says “Premium Conveyor-Belt Sushi” in big letters, making it easy to spot even from afar. And for people like me who drive, parking is the most important thing, right? There is a spacious dedicated Mikado Sushi lot right in front, so I could park with absolutely zero stress and head straight in. Even new drivers can visit without worry.

Once inside, the cozy yet clean wood-toned interior welcomes you. The soft lighting made it just right for a relaxed meal.

A long conveyor-belt sushi rail runs through the middle, with counter seats as well as roomy booth tables where a family of four can sit comfortably together.

In the open kitchen at the center, the chefs wore masks and sanitary caps neatly while constantly shaping fresh sushi right in front of us. Seeing the hygienic preparation process made me feel even more confident!

There are also plenty of high chairs and a stroller parking area for families dining with little ones, so parents can enjoy a meal out with peace of mind! Once we were shown to our seats, a staff member promptly brought over steaming, savory jang-guk (clear soup) and a chilled water bottle.

The table was neatly stocked with pickled ginger, rakkyo pickled shallots, fresh wasabi, and soy sauce in tidy containers, so it was easy to take as much as we wanted hygienically.

Looking at the endless stream of sushi gliding by right in front of me, the display was so gorgeous that my heart started racing! I especially loved that every plate had a clear dome cover, keeping everything moist and fresh without worrying about dust. If something is not on the belt, or if you want freshly fried items or noodles, they make it to order.

There are yellow sticky notes and pens in front of each table. If there is something you want that is not visible on the belt, simply jot it down and hand it to a chef—they will make it right away and pass it over. Such a thoughtful ordering system!

Time to properly start the food feast.

My first pick was fresh salmon sushi! Can you see those thick, glossy slices of salmon? The moment I took a bite, its rich, buttery flavor melted away without even a hint of fishiness. I was impressed.

Next came a large piece of eel sushi soaked in a sweet-and-savory house sauce, followed by tender bluefin tuna belly sushi. One after another, they made happiness burst in my mouth!

What makes this place truly special is its lineup of sushi with premium gamtae (Korean seaweed)! Ankimo sushi, topped with a thick piece of ankimo (monkfish liver) on green gamtae full of ocean aroma, was wonderfully soft and deep in flavor. It went so well with the gamtae.

We also ordered swordfish belly and salmon belly. The tuna generally arrives still a little frozen, so I recommend letting it thaw naturally while you eat the other sushi. Both were tender with just the right amount of richness, and we enjoyed them so much.

The flame-seared beef sushi had a proper smoky char from the torch, and the combination of sweet sauce and crisp scallions was a work of art. Meat lovers absolutely have to try this one.

And a sushi meal feels incomplete without something soupy, right? I was so curious about the tonkotsu ramen and buckwheat soba too. I wondered whether they could really be 2,100 won, but yes, they really are 2,100 won haha. I was surprised by how nicely they came out! The tonkotsu ramen had a beef-bone-broth ramen kind of feel, while the buckwheat soba tasted exactly like the familiar version we all know. Since the flavors are so familiar, they are easy for anyone to enjoy haha.

To finish, we ordered menbosha (fried shrimp toast) too. It had just come out of the fryer, so the outside was perfectly crisp while the bouncy shrimp filling inside made such a delicious match. It was as good as what you would get at many specialty restaurants.
A 20-plate tower with my husband

My husband and I were so busy reaching for sushi with our chopsticks that, before we knew it, we had built a tower more than 20 plates high beside the table. Even though we ate until we were stuffed, the flat 2,100-won price per plate made the bill easy to calculate, and the value-for-money satisfaction was high too.
