Jonggak date bar serving BTS Jungkook's wine, Vigor Red: Sudowonui
In short
Sudowonui Bimil Jeojanggo (수도원의 비밀 저장고) is a dining pub on the basement floor near Jonggak Station in Jongno, Seoul, styled like a European monastery wine cellar. The writer ordered Vigor Red, the red wine known as BTS Jungkook's wine, with truffle fries, and enjoyed how the smooth, well-balanced wine paired with the fries, crispy outside and soft inside. For a quiet, atmospheric date bar in Jonggak where you can actually talk, Sudowonui Bimil Jeojanggo is worth recommending.

What is the atmosphere like at Sudowonui Bimil Jeojanggo in Jonggak?
Sudowonui Bimil Jeojanggo (수도원의 비밀 저장고) is a pub in a basement near Jonggak Station, and just like its name ("the monastery's secret cellar"), it feels like an old European monastery wine cellar moved to Seoul. Brick interiors and vintage props sit under soft lighting, and for a moment I forgot I was in the middle of the city.
Whenever I have plans in Jonggak, there's one thing I always agonize over: finding a bar with good atmosphere, decent food and a place where you can actually talk. These days I prefer spots where you can enjoy the mood, not just the drinks, and this place felt like another world from the moment I walked in. If you're looking for a special bar in Jonggak or a date spot, I really want to introduce this one.

The first thing I noticed when I opened the door was the warm lighting. It isn't flashy, but the glow wrapping the whole space makes it much cozier, and the walls and every bit of decor give off European wine cellar vibes. It looked pretty in photos, but in person it was even better.
Is it good for a date or a blind date?
I thought it suited quiet conversations, anniversaries, blind dates and dates. Tables are spaced generously so I wasn't bothered by the people around us, and the music wasn't overpowering, so time passed naturally.

Even on the way down, I thought, this is so good! Such a dreamy feeling!

It suits dates and blind dates, and I'd highly recommend it if you want a quiet get-together. Below is the location of Sudowonui Bimil Jeojanggo.

The atmosphere is honestly so good, and just like the name says, you really feel that secret monastery cellar vibe right away.

What did I order at Sudowonui Bimil Jeojanggo?
This time I ordered Vigor Red, a red wine known as BTS Jungkook's wine, and truffle fries as the side. The wine selection is varied, so it's fun to choose to your taste.
Whether you're a regular wine drinker or a beginner, there are wines you can drink without pressure, so nothing felt intimidating. Vigor Red was the thing I was most looking forward to, and getting to try a wine I'd been curious about was one of my reasons for visiting. I picked the truffle fries because they seemed the most likely to go well with wine.

How does Vigor Red, BTS Jungkook's wine, taste?
Vigor Red had a smooth, easygoing taste from the very first sip, and it was well balanced rather than heavy. I think even people who don't drink wine often could enjoy it.
The wine came out first. The moment it was poured, a gentle aroma spread. I had assumed red wine would be dry and astringent, but Vigor Red was much easier to drink than expected. I tasted a subtle fruitiness in the mouth, and a deeper aroma followed with a long finish. After trying it, I understood why so many people search for it as BTS Jungkook's wine. A glass of wine in a space with this atmosphere was far more satisfying than I expected.

Cheers! The mood is crazy, and the body and flavor are honestly really good~ Personally, I love the color too, so pretty~

Do truffle fries go well with wine?
The truffle fries at Sudowonui Bimil Jeojanggo were crispy outside and soft inside, and eating them with Vigor Red was a really great combination. The portion was generous too, plenty for two to share.
From the moment the plate arrived, the truffle aroma wafted out gently, and that alone raised my expectations. With the first bite, the truffle scent rose naturally over the nutty flavor of the potato, nothing like ordinary fries. The saltiness wasn't overdone, so I kept reaching for more, and alternating a sip of wine with a fry was fun. If you want a light snack, this is the first thing I'd recommend.

How is it different from other bars in Jonggak?
Jonggak has plenty of bars, but most have a similar feel. Sudowonui Bimil Jeojanggo had a clear concept, just like its name, and the space itself felt like an experience. It wasn't somewhere you just drink and leave; you enjoy the atmosphere along with it.
Photos came out moody wherever I shot, and the time spent over a glass of wine felt extra special. It's fine with friends, but personally I think it's even more satisfying with a partner.

Summary: is it worth recommending for a wine date in Jonggak?
If you're looking for a bar or wine bar with great atmosphere in Jonggak, Sudowonui Bimil Jeojanggo was more satisfying than I expected. The moody interior reminiscent of a European monastery wine cellar, the quiet vibe for conversation, and Vigor Red, BTS Jungkook's wine, with its balance of taste and aroma were all great.
The truffle fries felt less like a plain side dish and more like a snack designed to pair with wine, and I didn't tire of them to the very end. If you want a different kind of date course in Jonggak or a bar with good atmosphere, I recommend visiting at least once. A good glass of wine in a moody space makes for a memorable evening.
