Samseong basement Indian restaurant, no-wait dinner: India The Durbar
In short
India The Durbar Samseong Station Branch is an Indian curry restaurant with an Indian chef, on the basement floor an 8-minute walk from Samseong Station Exit 4 in Gangnam, Seoul. A 6:30pm weekday visit meant no wait, and Set B for two (₩45,000) brought palak paneer, butter chicken, boneless tandoori chicken and lassi, with butter garlic naan added on. One set was more than enough to fill two people, though India The Durbar has no parking.

I was hunting for good spots near Samseong Station before the holidays when my husband said he was craving curry, so we headed to India The Durbar near Coex. Apparently it's a genuine Indian curry spot cooked by an Indian chef himself. It looked like a great place to eat solo too, but we went as a couple and left very satisfied — here's the review.

How to find India The Durbar Samseong Station Branch, and is there parking?
India The Durbar Samseong Station Branch is about an 8-minute walk from Samseong Station Exit 4.

It's near Hwimoon High School and close to the Posco intersection. Sadly, parking isn't available ㅠㅠ

There was also a standing sign noting that takeout is available. Good to know if you're planning to take it to go 🙂
What the basement dining room feels like
India The Durbar Samseong Station Branch is on the basement floor, so we went down a staircase — but inside, it was surprisingly spacious.

Colorful flags hung around the space and the interior really felt like being transported to India!

Elephant figurines and other decor pieces on the display shelves added to the Indian atmosphere, and you could tell every detail had been carefully thought out. The restaurant is on the larger side, so the tables had plenty of space between them, and being underground made it feel quiet, too.
The menu and what comes in Set B for two

The menu had set options for one, sets for two, and lunch sets, plus you could order à la carte too. We went with Set B for two (₩45,000). It's a complete package — green salad, boneless tandoori chicken, two curries, naan, rice, and lassi. We also added a butter garlic naan on top.
Side dishes, green salad and lassi

First came the basic side dishes: pickled radish, mango pickle, and jalapeños — three kinds.
The green salad had what tasted like a tangerine or orange dressing, so it was tangy and sweet. Perfect for whetting your appetite before the curry 🥭

Lassi came out in two glasses, matching the set's headcount. It had been a while since I'd had lassi, and the sweet, thick yogurt flavor was so good 😋
Boneless tandoori chicken 🍗
The boneless tandoori chicken came out first, with a deep orange color that already looked spicy, right? 🌶️ Taking a bite, the outside was crispy and the inside was juicy, and the spice aroma really hit you.
A squeeze of lemon made it go down clean without any greasiness! The sauce it came with was a sweet chili sauce.
Two curries: palak paneer and butter chicken
For the curries, we picked palak paneer and butter chicken.

Palak paneer (spinach curry with cottage cheese) had finely blended spinach in it, giving it a creamy, smooth texture — genuinely delicious...?

The butter chicken was loaded with cream, so it was rich and savory. It kept the authentic feel while being adjusted to suit Korean tastes?!

Plain white rice came with it, and personally, the butter curry paired really well with the rice.

Naan size and the butter garlic naan add-on: is Set B enough for two?
The naan included in the set is seriously huge, right? I ordered an extra naan thinking the set wouldn't be enough — I had no idea one would be this big, haha.

They gave us scissors separately, so we cut it ourselves.
Topping the naan with curry and taking a bite, the chewy naan and smooth curry went really well together. The spinach curry in particular paired beautifully with the naan.
After eating this much between the two of us, we were completely full. One set alone would have been plenty, even without adding the garlic naan.

Anyway, the butter garlic naan we'd ordered — how could it not taste good, just look at it? We were already full but it was so good we polished it off between the two of us haha.
Weekday evening wait times and restaurant details
We went around 6:30pm on a weekday and didn't have to wait at all. Maybe because a local chef was cooking, it was satisfying to have Indian curry that actually tasted authentically Indian again after a long while. If you're looking for a good curry spot near Samseong Station, I'd recommend India The Durbar for its genuinely local flavor 👍
