Gwanggyo dessert café to go: fruit cake & peppermint tea, Café Diaz
In short
Café Diaz Galleria Gwanggyo (카페디아즈 갤러리아 광교점) is a cake and dessert café on B1 of the Galleria department store in Gwanggyo, Suwon. The writer took away a Fruit Mongttang cake, a Diaz Signature Cream Latte and a peppermint tea from Café Diaz and enjoyed them near Gwanggyo Lake Park: a cake loaded with fruit and a sweet, nutty cream latte, with peppermint to leave the palate clean. If you're heading to Gwanggyo Lake Park, picking up desserts to go from Café Diaz is a combination worth recommending.

I was in Gwanggyo and suddenly wanted good dessert and coffee, so I stopped by Café Diaz Galleria Gwanggyo (카페디아즈 갤러리아 광교점). This time, instead of lingering inside, I took the desserts and drinks to go and enjoyed them near Gwanggyo Lake Park.

Where is Café Diaz Galleria Gwanggyo, and what are the opening hours?
Café Diaz Galleria Gwanggyo is at 124 Gwanggyojungang-ro, Yeongtong-gu, Suwon, Gyeonggi, South Korea, on B1 of Galleria Gwanggyo. It is open 10:30–20:00 Monday to Thursday and 10:30–20:30 Friday to Sunday.
You can order desserts and drinks in the basement of the Galleria department store, take them away and eat in the department store food court, or head to nearby Gwanggyo Lake Park.
How do you book a whole cake at Café Diaz?

Whole cakes can be booked up to 2 days before pickup, by phone or in person. Search for the Ingye, Buksuwon or Galleria Gwanggyo branch on Naver and call them. For a next-day order, I think it's best to ask in store.
Café Diaz review event and cake samples

Café Diaz Galleria Gwanggyo also runs a review event. Apparently, a review on one of Naver, Google or Kakao gets you a financier (small almond cake), and reviews on all three get you a slice of cake. Do the review event and pick up your financier or cake slice!
They also offer samples. Bite-sized pieces of cake are laid out on a tray, so it's a good idea to taste before you order.
What drinks are on the Café Diaz menu?

Café Diaz has plenty of coffee, from the signature latte to Americano, decaf Americano, café latte and vanilla latte. Beyond coffee, there are teas like peppermint, fruit juices, handmade teas and milk tea, so you can pick whatever suits your taste.
What kinds of cake does Café Diaz sell?

At Café Diaz Galleria Gwanggyo, the whole cakes were a fig whole cake and a fresh fruit cream whole cake. The slices included chocolate cream, Basque cheesecake, fruit, peach and blueberry, among others. There was such a variety that choosing was hard!

There were several fruit cakes, from mixed fruit to peach and blueberry, which fruit-cake lovers will like, and options without fruit too, like chocolate cream and Basque cheesecake, so there's plenty of choice.
What I ordered: Fruit Mongttang cake, Signature Cream Latte and peppermint tea

I ordered three things at Café Diaz: the Fruit Mongttang cake (후르츠몽땅케이크, a cake piled high with fruit), the Diaz Signature Cream Latte and a peppermint tea. A sweet cake, a coffee, and a peppermint tea for a clean finish.
What does the Diaz Signature Cream Latte taste like?

The cream on the Diaz Signature Cream Latte was sweet and the coffee nutty, which made it great with cake. Coffee is a must with cake, so I ordered it, and it went well with the sweet dessert.

Sweet cream, nutty coffee, a perfect pairing with cake. One sip and I understood right away why it's the signature latte.
Peppermint tea to go with the cake

Besides coffee, I also ordered Café Diaz's peppermint tea as something clean to drink. After the sweet cake and latte, the peppermint left my mouth feeling much fresher. It seems like a good choice if you don't like coffee or want something light with dessert.
How did the Fruit Mongttang cake hold up as takeout?

The Fruit Mongttang cake was carefully packed for takeout. It was packaged neatly so the cake wouldn't get messy, which made it easy to carry. If you'd rather not eat it on the spot, it's easy to take away, and the neat packing meant no worries on the way.

As the name suggests, the Fruit Mongttang cake is loaded with a variety of fruit, so it catches your eye right away. With all that colorful fruit on top it looks pretty, and it's a great pick when you crave something sweet.
Maybe because it's made by a professional pâtissier, it tasted softer, more delicate and more refined overall. It wasn't just sweet; the cream and sponge worked well together and the flavor got better with every bite. It felt like every ingredient had been carefully considered.
Café Diaz: a dessert stop before Gwanggyo Lake Park

When you want dessert and coffee in Gwanggyo, Café Diaz Galleria Gwanggyo is worth a visit. It's in the Galleria department store basement, so it's easy to reach, and a plus is that you can take it away and eat in the food court or near Gwanggyo Lake Park.
If you're planning to visit Gwanggyo Lake Park, I'd recommend packing desserts and drinks to enjoy at the lake at your leisure.
