Yeonnam-dong date restaurant, carrot duck aglio olio: Hôtel de Couture
In short
Hôtel de Couture is a pasta, steak and wine restaurant in an alley in Yeonnam-dong, Mapo, Seoul. On a weekend daytime visit, the order was carrot duck aglio olio (18,000 won), honey jambon cream French toast (14,000 won) and a Stella lager, and the flowers, plants, soft lighting and roomy table spacing made for a relaxed meal. For a Yeonnam-dong date that pairs unusual pasta with atmosphere, Hôtel de Couture is a good fit.

Why I chose Hôtel de Couture in Yeonnam-dong on a weekend
Hôtel de Couture is a Western restaurant in Yeonnam-dong serving pasta and steak along with dishes that pair well with wine. I was looking for somewhere to eat in Yeonnam-dong over the weekend and wanted a light meal with a good atmosphere, so I visited.
Yeonnam-dong has so many restaurants that it's always hard to decide where to go, but this time I wanted to check out the interior mood as much as the food, so I picked Hôtel de Couture.

How's the atmosphere at Hôtel de Couture for a date?
The restaurant felt warm and comfortable even on a weekend afternoon, thanks to the mix of flowers, plants and soft lighting. The tables had generous spacing too, which made it easy to chat while eating.

The soft lighting set the mood well, so even during the day the dining space felt a little warmer and cozier. The table spacing was more generous than I expected, too — no sense of being crammed next to the next table, and easy to talk over the meal.
If you're the type who cares about the mood as much as the food on a Yeonnam-dong date or a meal with friends, I think you'd like this. The flowers, plants and lighting all came together naturally, so it was a nice spot for photos too.
Hôtel de Couture menu: from pasta to steak

Hôtel de Couture sells not just pasta but risotto, steak, toast, egg-in-hell, salad and more. There are several pasta options too — carrot duck alio olio, basil shrimp cream pasta, honey bacon rosé pasta — so you can pick according to taste.
It also worked well for sharing several dishes alongside a steak or risotto.

The drink menu is quite varied too.
What we ordered, plus a Stella lager

Alongside the pasta and French toast, we also ordered a Stella lager. It came in a nice glass, which put me in a good mood before I even took a sip.

How does the carrot duck alio olio (₩18,000) taste?

The carrot duck alio olio at Hôtel de Couture is ₩18,000 — a pasta with duck breast and alio olio topped with sautéed carrot. The name alone sounded like an unusual combination, so I had to order it.

The carrot on top is julienned and sautéed, and it went surprisingly well with the pasta.

The clean flavor typical of alio olio, combined with the duck breast and carrot, gave it a different feel from a regular alio olio. The carrot matched the pasta better than I expected, so I kept taking bites of them together.

Since it uses duck and carrot together, this dish suits someone looking for something a bit unusual rather than a common pasta.
Is the honey jambon cream French toast (₩14,000) good as a meal?

The honey jambon cream French toast we also ordered is ₩14,000 — French toast with jambon beurre and rich cream, finished with truffle oil.
With jambon and cream on top of the French toast, it felt less like a purely sweet dessert and more like something you could eat alongside a meal.

The truffle oil on top was a nice touch, adding a subtle aroma. The combination of sweet French toast, salty jambon and cream worked well together, and it was good to order alongside the pasta and share.
So how was Hôtel de Couture as a Yeonnam-dong date spot?

Visiting Hôtel de Couture over the weekend, I liked the atmosphere as much as the food. With flowers and plants everywhere and soft lighting, the comfortable mood carried through the whole meal.
The generous table spacing also made it a good place to eat slowly on a Yeonnam-dong date or spend time chatting with friends. With a range of pasta, steak and risotto options, I thought it was a great spot for a group to each pick something to their taste.
