Is Gang Galbitang Seomyeon a good place to eat or drink alone?
Gang Galbitang Seomyeon is a galbitang (short rib soup) spot in Seomyeon, Busan that's great for eating alone or having a quick glass of soju. The ribs are seriously generous, there are seats made for solo diners so nobody gives you a look, and the owner is so kind that I already want to go back again and again and again.
Having a place like this in Seomyeon is just the best (right?). It's easy to drop in whenever you need to eat alone. And it tastes good too.. It sits well in your stomach, and galbitang followed by a cider (lemon-lime soda) is simply perfect. Honestly, this place is the real deal. If it's gukbap (rice soup) or galbitang, I'll take galbitang. It's gentle on the stomach and so delicious, such a great restaurant!
Where do you park for Gang Galbitang Seomyeon?
Gang Galbitang Seomyeon covers 30 minutes of parking when you spend ₩20,000 or more. The lot is Blue Parking Lot (399-8 Bujeon-dong, Busanjin-gu), so keep that in mind! In Seomyeon, where parking is such a headache.. they even cover the parking fee. Can they still make any profit? ㅠㅠ
Does Gang Galbitang Seomyeon do takeout and meal kits?
Gang Galbitang Seomyeon offers takeout and also sells meal kits. If you like it, wouldn't it be amazing to stash one in the freezer for the kids' dinner or something....... I really wanted to take one home ㅠㅠㅠ but I had plans, so I passed....
There were lots of solo diners when I went! Two guys were even drinking together... haha
What's on the Gang Galbitang menu, and what did I order?
You can choose a spicy (eolkeun) version at Gang Galbitang. Level 1 is spicy, level 2 is hot, and level 3 is very hot. I just ordered the basic galbitang, though the galbi gukbap looked great too. And galbi guksu (noodle soup)..!! Anything with noodles is cheating.
I added medium noodles to my galbitang for ₩2,500, and it gave me a clear-broth meat noodle soup vibe, which I loved. Extra brisket is ₩3,500, so if you want even more meat, go for it. But honestly there's plenty of meat even without it haha
What are the interior and seats like at Gang Galbitang Seomyeon?
The inside of Gang Galbitang Seomyeon is super clean. There was a good mix of seats for 2, 4 and 1. They run a review event, and you even get a hand cream. Hehehe
How were the meat portion and taste of the basic galbitang?
The basic galbitang took about 20 minutes after ordering and arrived in a piping hot earthenware pot (ttukbaegi). At last, the galbitang I'd been waiting for! The whole tray set down together looked neat and tidy, which I liked.
The green onions are chopped up finely, so it looks so appetizing. I came with my friend, and when we saw this we both went wow. Even wild ginseng (sansam)..?
When I separated the meat from the bone, it all came off with just the slightest pressure. Haha, no need to force it at all. The meat quality looked really great.
The glass noodles (dangmyeon) at Gang Galbitang were really good too. I added medium noodles, but if I hadn't, I think I would have added glass noodles.......... Slurp, slurp, totally delicious.
See how much meat there is? Seriously a lot.......... ㅜㅜ While cutting it, my friend and I kept saying, "Hey, why is there so much meat.....?" lol The meat portion is insane. There's too much. But we finished it all lol
Super, super tender meat.................. so it sat well in my stomach too. Eating the wild ginseng-type stuff made it feel like a health boost, so I ate it even though it was a bit bitter. haha
What's at the self-serve bar at Gang Galbitang Seomyeon?
At the self-serve bar, you can grab kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), pickled chili peppers, garlic, chili peppers and more yourself, which was convenient. There were dried radish strips (mumallaengi) too. But the kkakdugi was the best, hehehe
Gang Galbitang meal kit price and would I go back?
The easy-cook meal kit at Gang Galbitang Seomyeon is a reasonable ₩13,500, and the premium (teuk) option looks decent too. After a truly delicious meal (I ate so much I couldn't straighten my back), the meal kit caught my eye. Every menu item is available for takeout, so definitely come try the galbitang.
It's really delicious. A total health-boosting dish..... I'd absolutely go back to Gang Galbitang in Seomyeon, and I highly recommend it!!!
