It was a weekend and it was raining, so after an early lunch (brunch-ish) I wanted a quiet café with a nice mood where I could relax over coffee. My husband, our kid and I headed to Emily Bakery, a café in Samsan, Ulsan with a great word-of-mouth reputation. It's near Nam-gu Office, so it's easy to get to, and it's known for tasty desserts and a cozy atmosphere. So let's start my honest review of Emily Bakery!
Where is Emily Bakery and what are its hours?
Emily Bakery is at 144 Wangsaeng-ro, Nam-gu, Ulsan, South Korea (2nd floor), and it's open every day from 09:00 to 19:00. Takeout, separate men's and women's restrooms, Wi-Fi and easy payment are all available.
Where to park for Emily Bakery in Dal-dong

Emily Bakery has no parking of its own, but the Nam-gu Office parking lot is open on weekends. Park at Nam-gu Office or the Culture and Arts Center and it's only about a 5-minute walk, so it was easy to visit!

If you've ever walked around near Nam-gu Office, you've probably noticed it, because the huge signboard is so striking. It stands out from far away, and I kept thinking I had to visit someday. Finally I made it!
How are Emily Bakery's 1st and 2nd floors different?

The 1st floor of Emily Bakery is a space for brunch and meals, while the 2nd floor is the bakery café where you can enjoy all kinds of bread and drinks.

There's also an indoor waiting area on the way up to the 2nd floor, so even if there's a wait, you can sit comfortably!
What are the atmosphere and seating like at Emily Bakery?

The 2nd-floor interior is decorated with warm, sentimental props, so it gave me a bit of a home-café feeling. It has a calm vibe that's different from a crowded franchise café, so it's fine to visit with a kid, and it's a nice place to spend quiet time over a cup of coffee.

Actually, the first thing I noticed when I walked in was the lush green view outside the window.

The window side is a bar table, so you can sit there comfortably even on your own, and it looked like a lovely spot to relax while taking in the scenery outside.

The café isn't big, but the wide sofa seats and tables are laid out with room to spare, so it was comfortable to stay in. I also saw lots of families who had eaten on the 1st floor and come up for dessert.
What bread and desserts does Emily Bakery sell?

Emily Bakery is a Dal-dong café that sells a variety of drinks and tasty desserts.

They also have a wide range of bakery items freshly baked every morning, so it's a place that bread and dessert lovers will be happy with.

Among the desserts, Emily Bakery is especially known for its baked sweets, which are really good. The financiers (small French almond-butter cakes) lined up in the showcase come in plain, salted chocolate, salted caramel, white macadamia and more, so choosing is half the fun.
Does Emily Bakery gift-box its baked sweets?

Emily Bakery also has dedicated gift boxes sized to the number of pieces you buy. The desserts are packed neatly, so it would be perfect for a housewarming gift, a thank-you present or a small gift.

Seeing everything laid out so temptingly, I wanted to get a bit of everything, but I'd already eaten a meal, so I decided to just try one or two things I really wanted!
What we ordered at Emily Bakery on a rainy day

It was rainy and a little chilly, so we ordered a hot milk tea and a café latte at Emily Bakery, and for dessert I picked a canelé (a small French custard cake with a caramelized crust) and a white macadamia financier! With the rain falling softly, the view of Dal-dong outside felt even more atmospheric.
How does Emily Bakery's signature milk tea taste?

The milk tea, Emily Bakery's signature drink, was really smooth yet deep in flavor.

From the first sip, the deep, rich flavor of the black tea blended with a gentle sweetness, so it was easy to enjoy. Once I ordered it, I understood why it's the signature menu item.
Is the coffee at Emily Bakery good too?

This is the hot café latte my husband ordered, which goes well with sweet desserts. Honestly, some cafés have a great mood but bad coffee, but the coffee at Emily Bakery is really nutty and delicious, so much that I even thought about coming back next time just for the coffee.
Emily Bakery's canelé and white macadamia financier

These are the canelé and financier I ordered to just have a small taste. Wow, the quality was so good that I couldn't help wondering why I hadn't discovered this dessert spot sooner.

The canelé was crisp outside and moist inside with a gentle sweetness, and so soft that I wondered if there was cream inside. My husband tried it and said it was delicious too. I found a great canelé spot near Nam-gu Office,,,

Also, I tend to love macadamia nuts, and in the white macadamia financier the nutty richness of the butter and the texture of the macadamia made me gasp at the first bite. It's not just a dessert to go with coffee; I'd come back for the dessert alone! I really, truly recommend it.
Is Emily Bakery worth a visit? Our verdict
Emily Bakery is a new, atmospheric dessert café in Dal-dong near Nam-gu Office, where the tasty baked sweets and coffee in a cozy space left a strong impression. The canelé and financier were especially good, so I highly recommend it to dessert lovers. That was my genuine review of Emily Bakery!
