Gwangalli brunch café with matcha tiramisu: Working Holiday Minrak

For anyone searching for a Gwangalli brunch café with a wide-open ocean view, but worried that only certain seats actually have the good view —

My husband and I took a trip to Busan together after a while, and we found a genuinely amazing café with a Gwangalli view.

Here's our full review of the weekday noon brunch and the café itself!

Working Holiday Minrak: location, parking and opening hours

Working Holiday Minrak is on the 7th floor of Badamaru, 29 Minrak-subyeon-ro, Suyeong-gu, Busan. You can park in the Badamaru building's basement parking lot — spend ₩10,000 and you get 1 hour free, up to 4 hours a day.

Why we chose Working Holiday Minrak: an ocean view from every seat

If you search Instagram or blogs for Gwangalli brunch café recommendations, a lot of them only have a good view from a few prime seats — the rest of the seats just face a wall.

But from the photos, Working Holiday Minrak looked like every single seat has a panoramic view of Gwangalli Beach. We got completely charmed by the wide-open scenery and generous-looking brunch in the photos, and ended up choosing this place almost on impulse.

Noon on a weekday, and why you order outside the café

We were car-free travelers so we didn't need to worry about parking. We arrived at Working Holiday Minrak around noon on a weekday.

The system is to order outside the café. Working Holiday Minrak really had everything — brunch, pasta & steak, Italian pizza, bakery items, coffee, non-coffee drinks, liquor, wine, you name it. Since it was our first meal in Busan, I really wanted to fill up on a hearty brunch.

The brunch menu had soup, eggs Benedict, sandwiches, calzones, and more — we settled on the Ultimate Chicken Sandwich and the Chicken Avocado Sandwich. Each comes with a choice of soup or salad, and we picked soup for both. We also ordered an americano and matcha tiramisu for a second round of dessert.

After ordering, the food took about 15 to 20 minutes to arrive.

There wasn't a boring moment, though — we were too busy taking photos of the ocean through the floor-to-ceiling windows to notice the time.

Honestly, however long the wait was, it barely mattered.

They also won a gold prize at the Global Yeongdo Coffee Festival, so I was curious how the coffee would taste.

Ultimate Chicken Sandwich and Chicken Avocado Sandwich: how did they taste?

Here come the Ultimate Sandwich and Chicken Avocado Sandwich we ordered!

I noticed even the coffee cup had the café's name engraved on it — a nice sign that they pay attention to the details.

On the left is the Chicken Avocado, on the right the Ultimate Sandwich. The moment we saw the brunch spread, we were surprised by how generous the portions were. It looked like healthy rye-style bread with the fillings stacked layer upon layer!

Chicken Avocado Sandwich with corn soup

This is the avocado sandwich my husband ordered. It has a very healthy vibe to it, the kind that adults tend to really love! The grilled tomato and avocado combo makes it perfect for someone like me who loves eating clean, and a great, light option for breakfast. I actually liked this sandwich more.

The soup was corn soup — smooth and creamy, perfect for dipping the bread in.

Ultimate Chicken Sandwich

I picked it, but my husband ended up enjoying the Ultimate Sandwich even more.

I keep thinking about the combo of thick chicken thigh meat and perilla leaves — spicy in a way that's almost addictive.

This sandwich was also packed generously with fillings. You could tell the bread had been carefully toasted too. (I'd recommend ordering at least one of these sandwiches!)

Round two at Working Holiday Minrak: matcha tiramisu and americano

Last up was matcha tiramisu with coffee! The matcha flavor was rich, with a hint of coffee in the middle — a taste I'm still thinking about even as I write this. Working Holiday Minrak left me with the impression that they're just as skilled with dessert.

3 things we genuinely liked about Working Holiday Minrak

1. Panoramic Gwangalli Beach views from every single seat, plus a spacious store — both my husband and I agreed this is the best café in Gwangalli, maybe even Busan. It's almost no exaggeration to say you can take in the entire Gwangalli beach through the floor-to-ceiling windows; the view is truly incredible.

2. A solid, hearty brunch spread — plenty of places charge a lot for brunch but skimp on substance. Here, the sandwiches come with soup or salad, the portions are generous, and the flavors aren't overwhelming — genuinely delicious.

3. Meal, dessert, and drinks all in one place — after finishing the sandwiches happily, my coffee-loving husband and I added an americano to the matcha tiramisu and enjoyed a full second round of dessert without leaving. The bakery selection is varied, and they also sell liquor and wine, so it'd be great to visit at night too.
