Large Daegu café with cherry-season pink goods: Slow But Barrel
In short
Slow But Barrel Daegu is a large dog-friendly, kids-welcome bakery café in Sinpyeong-dong, Dong-gu, Daegu. On a day above 30°C, the writer drove out, browsed the cherry-season section and ordered a chamoe (Korean melon) honey smoothie, a Barrel White and a cherry bakery item, all of which arrived in under 10 minutes at weekend peak time. The annex photo spot had no air conditioning and was hot, but Slow But Barrel Daegu is a good café for escaping the heat with kids or a dog.

Why I headed to Slow But Barrel on a hot day in Daegu
Slow But Barrel Daegu is a large, dog-friendly café in Sinpyeong-dong, Dong-gu, Daegu. I honestly wondered if it was really May, with midday highs hitting 30°C. Daegu, nicknamed "Daefrica" for its heat, lives up to its name 😅 On a day like this, hanging out in a cool café is the best plan, so I drove over to Slow But Barrel.

Slow But Barrel is in Sinpyeong-dong, Dong-gu, Daegu. From the very start of the approach it's so lush and green that it felt like cleansing for the eyes.

Where do you park at Slow But Barrel Daegu?
Just use the café's own car park. Signposts lead the way from the entrance, so there's no chance of getting lost. The car park is as spacious as the café, so even beginner drivers can park with no trouble!

Seating inside Slow But Barrel and high chairs
The interior is modern, in white tones.

The tables are spaced widely, so getting around looked easy, and the window seats with the nice view were already full. Since it's a kids-welcome café, there were plenty of high chairs too.

The cherry season section and pink goods
Slow But Barrel changes its seasonal menu with the seasons, and when I visited the theme was cherry. They had set up a separate cherry section, and I was so busy looking at the pink-pink goods that I lost track of time haha

The annex photo spot and outdoor sand play area
Fitting for a big café, there's also an annex(?), and this is the photo spot I'd seen on Instagram. It's known for its hanging plants, and I could hear birds chirping overhead, as if they really keep birds there. It's a stylish space, but sadly there was no air conditioning and it was far too hot. I had no choice but to take my photos and head back out.
Outside there's a space where kids can play in the sand. It's probably most popular in spring and autumn, but in the sweltering peak-summer heat, sadly nobody was using it 😅 Now that I'd looked around inside and out, time to order!

Tips for ordering drinks and bakery at Slow But Barrel
Besides coffee, you can order a wide range of drinks, and watching from behind the line, the seasonal menu was clearly ordered the most.

When I visited, there was an event: save the place on Naver Place and post a Naver photo receipt review to get one madeleine or financier. The bakery here is a real standout, so be sure to grab one and enjoy ❤️

The bakery lineup is as varied as the drinks.

There's bakery inside the showcase too, so look around everything before you order! For this kind of thing, a video seems far more effective than text.
Here's what I ordered that day.
- Melon-packed honey smoothie
- Barrel White
- One cherry bakery item

How long is the wait at weekend peak time?
From ordering to getting my items took less than 10 minutes. It was weekend peak time so I expected a wait haha, and I was happy it came out faster than I thought ✌️

How the cherry bakery, melon smoothie and Barrel White taste
The cherry bakery item was like a mammoth bread (a big, soft cream-filled loaf) topped with cherries, and it was fresh and tasty. It paired well with the sweet melon smoothie, the seasonal drink, and with the nutty Barrel White too.

I think bakery has to satisfy two things, the joy of seeing it and the joy of tasting it, and this satisfied both eyes and mouth 🤩 As fresh and delicious as it looks 🍰
Is it a good large Daegu café for kids and dogs?
If you want a relaxed tea time surrounded by nature, or you're looking for a café to go to with kids in the sweltering summer, I highly recommend Slow But Barrel. The dog-friendly area is separate, so even people who are afraid of dogs can go without hesitation, gogogo!
Opening hours are Mon–Sun 10:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., with last order at 9:30 p.m.
