Yonggye Station Halloween café date in Daegu: Slow But Barrel
In short
Slow But Barrel Daegu is a large bakery café on Sinpyeong-ro in Dong-gu, Daegu, nicknamed "the Louvre of Daegu." On an autumn date during a weekday lunch in October, the writer took in the Halloween décor and tried a vanilla bean latte, a green tangerine omija (five-flavor berry) latte, chestnut bread and pain au chocolat. The bread, expected to be just a side, turned out far better than expected, proving Slow But Barrel Daegu's reputation as a true bakery destination.

I stopped by Slow But Barrel Daegu, known as "the Louvre of Daegu," to enjoy the Halloween interior, tasty bakery items and drinks~ I always figured café bread was just something to nibble on the side, but the bread here was so good that it surprised me.
It's a big café, so there are lots of seats and parking is easy. There seem to be plenty of wedding halls nearby, so it would work for group visits, and I'd also recommend it as an autumn date spot like I did~ Oh! Dogs are allowed too ^^ Let me start the detailed review~!
Where is Slow But Barrel Daegu, and what about parking and hours?
Slow But Barrel Daegu is at 113 Sinpyeong-ro, Dong-gu, Daegu, a 15-minute walk from Yonggye Station~

There's a big dedicated parking lot, so I had no parking worries at all.

It's open every day from 10 AM to 10 PM. And what a detail, haha: the path into the café is a separate walkway that doesn't overlap with the route to the parking lot.
What are the Halloween interior and seating like?

For October, the inside of Slow But Barrel Daegu is decorated for Halloween, in a cute way that isn't scary~ There are plenty of indoor seats and outdoor seats too, so even on a weekend you shouldn't have to worry about finding a spot~
Lots of bread was already gone at weekday lunch
They sell bakery items too, so it's a nice place for a light brunch! I went at weekday lunchtime, and there still wasn't much bread left T_T Since it's a famous bread spot, many people just come to take bread to go, even if they don't use the café.

They also have cakes and kids' drinks, so it's a good place to visit with children.

What are the outdoor seats and dog-friendly area like?
Let's walk past the skeleton and head outside~ The weather in autumn is just so nice~

The outdoor area at Slow But Barrel Daegu is stylishly decorated too.

There are plenty of tables, and it's a great café for taking photos, so it's a nice way to spend a day off~

If you go out the other side, there's an outdoor space where dogs are allowed.

What's on the drink menu at Slow But Barrel Daegu?

The coffee menu has americano, espresso, vanilla bean latte, cappuccino and affogato, and for non-caffeine drinks there are smoothies and lattes made with apricots they grow themselves~ One drink per person is required!

Here's what I ordered.
- Vanilla bean latte
- Green tangerine omija latte (omija is a sweet-sour five-flavor berry)
- Pain au chocolat
- Chestnut bread

How do the chestnut bread, pain au chocolat and vanilla bean latte taste?
Chestnut bread
I was craving something mild and plain, so I ordered the chestnut bread. It's dusted with powdered sugar, and the moment it hit my mouth it was sweet and moist, and a happy "mmm~" just slipped out.

Pain au chocolat
The pain au chocolat had red bean, chewy sweet bean paste and a sweet, buttery flavor inside crispy pastry, and I thought, yep, this really is a bread place, haha.

Vanilla bean latte
The vanilla bean latte was also so good, with the nutty flavor of the milk balanced by just the right sweetness. If you're looking for a huge café in Daegu, I recommend Slow But Barrel Daegu, with its relaxed atmosphere, tasty drinks and bakery full of bread ^^
