Seongsan grilled tilefish restaurant worth a third visit: Jejurowoon
In short
Jejurowoon Cheonghaewon (제주로운청해원) is a Korean restaurant serving braised hairtail and grilled tilefish near Seongsan Ilchulbong in Seongsan-eup, Seogwipo, Jeju. Missing a grilled tilefish that tastes like nowhere else, the writer returned for a third time. Over a late dinner while the baby slept, two adults shared the A set of braised hairtail, grilled tilefish, seafood hot pot, sticky pot rice and soy-marinated crab. Jejurowoon Cheonghaewon stays open late and serves a well-rounded set at a fair price, a place to return to whenever you crave a proper Korean meal in Jeju.

Why I returned to Jejurowoon Cheonghaewon a third time
Jejurowoon Cheonghaewon (제주로운청해원) is a Seongsan favorite I stop by every time I come to Jeju. This is my third revisit, and the reason is just one thing: the grilled tilefish here is sooo good.
Sometimes my husband (Sunding) and I say, "Ahh, I want Jeju grilled tilefish." I tried it at another place last time and it did NOT taste like this, not at all! The tilefish at Cheonghaewon is plump, crisp, tender and just so tasty, T_T
If you're looking for a place for a family meal out, or a clean, good-value Korean restaurant in Jeju, I totally recommend Jejurowoon Cheonghaewon!
Jejurowoon Cheonghaewon opening hours: 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Jejurowoon is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. It's one of the few Korean restaurants in Jeju open from super early in the morning until late in the evening!

Most places in Jeju close early, T_T But after hitting cafés and eating bread and whatnot, you end up having dinner late, right? Cheonghaewon is open late, so that's a big thumbs up! That day, too, we rested at our hotel for a loooong while until we got hungry, then wandered over to Cheonghaewon.

Where to park at Jejurowoon Cheonghaewon
You can park right in front of the restaurant. Every time I come, I park either in front or across the street, and it doesn't seem like they enforce parking? No parking worries!
A spacious dining room that fits groups
The inside is big, so group gatherings are possible too.

I took this photo on the way out. It's so roomy that Jeju locals seem to come for get-togethers often. A huge group from a church had been here. Right when we visited, the groups had just left, so we ate in peace! Seeing locals come in groups, it really feels like a true local favorite.
Jejurowoon Cheonghaewon menu: which set to order?
There are à la carte dishes, but the set menus are really well put together. I've tried several sets, and this time I ordered the A set, which pairs grilled tilefish with hairtail stew!

The A set comes with hairtail stew, grilled tilefish, seafood stew, sticky pot rice and soy-marinated crab. Wow... is there any profit left, boss? Every time I come I'm amazed at the kind price!
We'd been eating pizza and bread nonstop, so I was craving rice sooooo badly, and eating a real, proper meal made me so happy T_T

Right before the food came out, the baby got sleepy eyes and fell asleep immediately, so we got to enjoy the meal... very... happily!

The A set spread, devoured by the two of us
Isn't the A set spread at Jejurowoon amazing? The night before, we ate pizza and went straight to the hotel to sleep, T_T so I was starving... I ate like I was possessed... hahahaha
My husband and I wolfed it down, it was so good T_T Truly the best!!!!

Freshly cooked sticky pot rice
Look at that gleaming white rice, as a rice restaurant should have! The sticky pot rice (솥밥) at Jejurowoon is freshly cooked, so it's so good T_T A rice restaurant has to have good rice, and this is a true favorite.
Seafood hot pot that eased our aches
Jeju with a baby was really exhausting... we both had sore throats and felt beaten up all over... haha But after the hot seafood stew (뚝배기) and hairtail stew, we felt all better... T_T

The seafood stew here is doenjang (fermented soybean paste) based, and the broth is sooo deep. We hadn't even been drinking, but we kept going "Ahh... ahh... ahh..." while eating, hahaha

The grilled tilefish that brought me back
Guys... look at the color of this grilled tilefish... Moist... tender and lightly salty, it was so, so good T_T A total rice thief!!!!

How many soy-marinated crabs come with the A set?
The soy-marinated crab (간장게장) in the A set comes as 4 pcs, so 2 pcs each, yum yum. Wait, we're running out of rice!! Everything here is a rice thief!! haha

Braised hairtail loaded with fish
Hairtail is pricey, but the hairtail stew (갈치조림) here has a LOT of it. Tender hairtail with the spicy broth is heaven. It melts in your mouth T_T

Finishing with sungnyung (scorched-rice tea) and braised radish
The A set ends with sungnyung (숭늉, scorched rice tea)!!!! And what goes well with it?!

By the time we got to the sungnyung, the radish in the hairtail stew was braised so well and so tender! Sungnyung and braised radish, yum yum yum haha
My husband said he'd never seen me eat this much rice.. he was shocked, and I enjoyed it so, so much T_T If you want a proper rice restaurant in Jeju, I absolutely recommend Jejurowoon Cheonghaewon. The price is reasonable, the set is great and it tastes good, so it's truly the best T_T This was my third revisit.... and I'll go again....
