Daegu café with riverside views and seating: Hands Coffee

In short

Hands Coffee Dongchon Resort Branch is a large café in Dong-gu, Daegu, with its own parking lot, varied seating, and views of the Geumho River. I shared a Häagen-Dazs glutinous-rice waffle and tea with a friend; the waffle stayed crisp to the last bite, though rain kept us from using the rooftop.

I visited Hands Coffee Dongchon Resort Branch (핸즈커피 동촌유원지점) with a friend one evening. We enjoyed waffles and tea while talking in the spacious café overlooking the Geumho River.

Where is the café, and is parking convenient?

The address is 5-6 Hyodong-ro 6-gil, Dong-gu, Daegu. This large café occupies the second through fourth floors of the building, so it was easy to spot from afar. The hours listed in the original post are 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM daily, and it is open year-round.

What seating is there for friends or groups?

The second floor has both the ordering area and café seating. Its overall antique atmosphere felt warm and comfortable.

There were group tables further inside, along with plenty of comfortable sofa seats. It looked suitable for gathering with several people or taking time to talk with a friend.

How did I order, and what did I choose?

You can order at a kiosk or directly from staff. We visited in the evening, but there was also a brunch menu.

We ordered a Häagen-Dazs ice cream chapssal waffle (glutinous-rice waffle), hibiscus apple tea, and omija tea to share. There was also a promotion offering one cookie for a receipt review at the time of my visit, though I did not take part.

Is there seating suitable for visiting with children?

While waiting for our order, I looked around the seating on the second and third floors. Each floor had a slightly different atmosphere, and the café felt clean, spacious, and comfortable overall.

The third floor had a large floor-seating area, which looked suitable for visiting with children. I was there with a friend this time, so I only looked around the space. The Geumho River view through the floor-to-ceiling windows was also nice.

There were sofa seats as well. A rooftop is available, but it rained heavily on the day I visited, so I could not go up.

How were the ice cream chapssal waffle and teas?

The waffle arrived freshly crisp, and I could eat it with Häagen-Dazs ice cream. There were four ice cream flavors to choose from.

Along with the ice cream waffle I chose, there were other waffle options including blueberry, matcha, chocolate banana, and granola peanut cream.

The chapssal waffle was chewy, yet it stayed crisp rather than becoming soggy through the final piece. It was a good amount for two people to share and worked well as a dessert with drinks.

Warm chapssal waffle and cold ice cream

I liked the combination of warm waffle and cold ice cream. Since I usually like matcha, the matcha ice cream suited my taste especially well.

Hibiscus apple tea and omija tea with waffle

The hibiscus apple tea was refreshing, with a subtle fruity aroma. It was not overly sweet, so it went well with the waffle, while the omija tea was sweet and tart. I slowly drank the tea I chose instead of coffee and spent time with my friend.
