Don Tamguso's atmosphere: good for a date or a blind date?
Don Tamguso is very accessible, right near Magok Station and One Grove. On the outside wall there are photos of the dishes, and every single one looks amazing.

The first thing you notice walking in is the spotless open kitchen.

With the open kitchen there's plenty to watch, and the wine storage has a great variety too — fun to browse~

The atmosphere is great too. Perfect for a date, perfect for a blind date!!!
When we arrived with our reservation, my name was already set out, and each seat had a little note — felt so thoughtful. Honestly I've had sushi omakase and beef omakase before, but never pork omakase, so I was so curious!!! And the chef's confidence really boosted my trust in the place!

The booklet explaining today's course! I kept it open on the table to enjoy the meal in more detail, haha.
If there's a birthday in the party, there's a lettering service — guess I'll have to come back next year for mine~ You just place your plate on the bar once you're done eating!

There's a drinks menu at every table, and I went with a zero-sugar cola! Okay, on to the dinner course~
What's in the Don Tamguso dinner course?
1. Soup: Chestnut and mushroom soup
Don Tamguso's dinner course opens with a warm, smooth chestnut soup! With chestnut and button mushroom, it's super nutty, and the cream makes it a soft, gentle starter, haha.
2. Salad: Fruit and prosciutto

The Don Tamguso salad is gorgeous the moment it lands on the table!! This is the kind of dish girls would absolutely love photographing.

The combo of tangy-sweet fruit and salty prosciutto is so good!! First time trying this pairing and it works really well.
3. Lasagna: Shiitake white ragu with smoked barbecue sauce

Lasagna with white ragu sauce layered between shiitake mushrooms. The house-made smoked barbecue sauce was especially eye-catching!

One bite in and it was so tender I actually gasped! Definitely one of the most memorable dishes of the night!!
4. Meat course 1: Nuruk-aged truffle tenderloin

The first meat course is tenderloin! A subtle truffle oil aroma tells you it's going to be good before you even taste it. The pink side dish is apparently German-style fresh kimchi, haha!

Wow, but this main dish... aged with nuruk (fermented grain starter), it just melted in my mouth, ugh. I've never had such tender pork in my life.

The combination of the fresh kimchi, garnish mushrooms, and tenderloin is honestly incredible. This was a dish where you could feel exactly how much care went into it!

The perfect doneness and flavor combo kept me reaching for more!
5. Meat course 2: Pork belly with minari

The second main is pork belly with minari (water dropwort)! The chef explained that eating them together gives a Latin, Mexican-ish feel, haha. The moment I tasted it, I got exactly what he meant, haha. So strange — it's a Korean-style dish, but how does it taste like that!?

The spices and fragrant minari cut through completely, so there's zero greasiness — delicious to the very last bite!
6. Don Tamguso signature burger

The Don Tamguso signature burger!!!! The combo of house-made jambon and sauce is addictive — I almost asked for a second one... The house jambon in particular isn't the least bit overpowering and pairs beautifully with the vegetables, and the bun is just the right size!!
7. Main dish, pick one: Abalone risotto vs. nacho rigatoni pasta
For the main dish, Don Tamguso lets you choose risotto or pasta — if there are two of you, I'd recommend ordering one of each to share!

First, the risotto! Wando abalone, barley, and even chamnamul (Korean parsley)!!!

Fresh Wando abalone with the pop of barley adds fun texture, plus the nutty richness of grana padano cheese makes it really filling and delicious!

And the pasta! Surprisingly topped with nachos!! The spicy, exotic con carne sauce with crunchy nachos and chewy rigatoni pairs so well! If you like a bit of heat, you'll love this one!!
8. Dessert

Don Tamguso's dessert tastes better eaten spoonful by spoonful without mixing, haha!

Sweet, and a perfect palate cleanser to finish.
