Gray root touch-up at Marker Hair, a one-chair Magok Station salon
In short
Marker Hair Magok Station Branch is a one-person hair salon with a resident dog, on the ground floor of Metro Biz Tower right outside Exit 5 of Magok Station in Gangseo, Seoul. About 3 months after a previous dye job, the writer's new gray roots were covered with a root touch-up instead of a full dye, as agreed in a consultation, using a color one tone lighter, plus a cut that only tidied the ends. At Marker Hair Magok Station Branch the gray blended in naturally and the hair felt lighter, making for a very satisfying visit.

Gray hairs have been shooting up lately, and every time I looked in the mirror they bugged me. I figured I couldn't put it off any longer, so I went to Marker Hair Magok Station Branch in Magok for a root touch-up! My hair had also grown long and scraggly, so I got a light cut too, just a tidy-up. I'm leaving this review in the hope that it helps anyone looking for a hair salon in Magok~

Where is Marker Hair Magok Station Branch, and is there parking?
Marker Hair Magok Station Branch is a 1-minute walk from Magok Station Exit 5, on the ground floor of the Metro Biz Tower, and parking is available. It's right by the station, so it's easy to get to, and it's just in front of the escalator, so it's easy to find. The purple MACR sign also stands out from the street outside. And since there's parking, you can come by car too.

A hair salon with a dog: what's the atmosphere like?
Marker Hair Magok Station Branch has a white dog named Banteu. Shall we step inside~ The moment you walk in, fluffy white Banteu greets you with barking, haha. Actually he's quite timid, so he only barks at first and then stays quiet. Since it's a hair salon with a dog, dog lovers will probably enjoy getting their hair done even more~

It's a solo-run salon, so there are just 2 treatment chairs and it's on the small side, but the interior is pretty, the mood is cozy, and everything was clean~

This is the shampoo area.

Gray hair: full dye or root touch-up?
The owner looked at my hair condition and the amount of gray and talked it through with me, and we decided on just a root touch-up instead of a full dye. It had been about 3 months, maybe 3 and a half, since my last dye job, so my roots had grown out a lot and plenty of grays had come in..ㅠ I was torn between a full dye and a root touch-up, but the owner checked my hair and the amount of gray carefully, and after the consultation we settled on the root touch-up!

My hair was originally a bob, but it had grown so long it could be tied back, and it looked messy..;; So we decided on a cut too: some thinning and just a 1–2 cm trim. The owner was really kind, explained everything in detail during the consultation, and gave me advice on my hair concerns and what to do going forward. I'm truly grateful~
The process, from cut to root touch-up
Trimming the ends
At Marker Hair Magok Station Branch, they cut first and dyed afterward. Cut first, let's go~ After the first round of cutting, the length was clearly shorter and neater, haha

Scalp protector, then a root touch-up one tone lighter
The root touch-up started after a scalp protector was sprayed on, and then, as a second step, the owner layered on a color one tone lighter. The owner was quick and thorough, not missing a single spot at the roots, and it didn't take long, so it never felt like a burden.
Light colors suit me, so the owner layered a color one tone lighter on top as the second step.

I waited about 30–40 minutes after the dye was applied, and I loved that they brought me a cold coffee while I waited~

The owner checked the color once more, we waited a little longer, then shampoo and blow-dry~ The color came out nicely, right?! haha

The result: did the root touch-up cover the gray?
The root touch-up at Marker Hair Magok Station Branch covered my grays naturally and my hair looks much neater, so I'm very happy~!^^
For the cut, I asked them not to take much length and only tidy up the messy ends, and they reflected my taste perfectly~
The color is nicely bright, the gray coverage worked, and the cut is cleanly shaped, so my hair feels so much lighter and I love it~ The blow-dry was pretty too and gave me a stylish look, so I'm completely satisfied! haha
