In short

Ganaandeok Gyeyang Branch is a duck restaurant in Gyeyang, Incheon, near Bakchon Station. Lately, I’ve really been feeling low on energy,, no matter what I ate, it didn’t feel quite filling enough, and I kept craving a nice hot nourishing meal!

So I took my parents to Ganaandeok Gyeyang Branch (가나안덕 계양점). Duck is delicious grilled too, but that day I wanted a warm broth as well, so we had neungi mushroom duck baeksuk (slow-simmered duck soup) and two servings of duck mung bean porridge! We ate pro~perly >_<

Ganaandeok Gyeyang Branch Near Bakchon Station

Ganaandeok Gyeyang Branch is close to Bakchon Station on Incheon Subway Line 1. We drove there, and since there was parking available, it was easy to visit with my parents too.

When you eat out as a family, the food matters, but parking is something you quietly end up worrying about too, right? The dining room was fairly spacious, and the tables weren’t packed tightly together, so it was a nice place for a relaxed meal :)

Restaurant interior with generously spaced tables

It was great for the three of us to eat together, and it also seemed like a good option for anyone looking for a duck restaurant in Gyeyang-gu for a family gathering or a larger group.

Restaurant space suited to a family meal

We had made a reservation before visiting. When we arrived, they had prepared our table like this, so we could sit down comfortably without waiting. On a day when you’re taking your parents out for a meal, a long wait can be a little stressful, so reserving ahead definitely made things easier!

When I think of Ganaandeok, I think of duck, and they have everything from grilled duck to baeksuk, so it was nice to choose according to what you feel like having.

A Self-Service Station for Easy Side-Dish Refills

There was also a neatly arranged self-service station on one side of the restaurant.

It was convenient because we could pick up any side dishes we needed during the meal, without having to keep calling the staff and feeling self-conscious :)

With something like baeksuk, which you eat slowly over a long time, you end up needing extra side dishes midway through. The self-service station made that easy to handle.

The restaurant interior is quite spacious! There were plenty of tables, and the room itself never felt cramped, so it was lovely to eat slowly with my parents. I also thought it would be a good choice not only for a small outing, but for a family gathering or meal with a bigger group.

We settled comfortably into our reserved table, and now it was time to properly start nourishing ourselves!

What Did the Neungi Mushroom Duck Baeksuk Look Like?

Finally, the star of the day, the neungi mushroom duck baeksuk, arrived.

Once the baeksuk arrived, a staff member carefully cut everything from the mushrooms to the duck into easy-to-eat pieces. They prepared the large duck right at the table, so we didn’t have to deal with cutting it ourselves—we just had to start picking up the cooked meat!

That was convenient even with my parents there, and while it was being prepared, the broth bubbled away and the aroma of neungi mushrooms rose up. It made me want to eat it right away!

There were also plenty of white wood ear mushrooms and neungi mushrooms tucked in among the meat :)

Baeksuk with neungi and white wood ear mushrooms

The white wood ear mushrooms were chewy yet crisp, which made them fun to bite into, while the neungi mushrooms had such a rich aroma that they really stood out with the baeksuk broth. First of all, I tried the duck. It was cooked until tender, with the meat falling away softly and the broth soaked in, so it went down lightly. The meat was good on its own, but topping it with a neungi mushroom added aroma and texture and made the pairing so much better. Wow... the size is crazy..

After a bite of meat, I naturally found myself reaching for the broth next.

Duck baeksuk broth infused with neungi mushroom aroma

The deep flavor from the long-simmered duck blended naturally with the aroma of neungi mushrooms, and having it hot felt so comforting..! The well-cooked duck was tender and moist too, and eating it with the neungi and white wood ear mushrooms gave it even more varied textures, making it even tastier 🤎

Two Servings of Duck Mung Bean Porridge After the Baeksuk

After we had eaten a good amount of the neungi mushroom duck baeksuk, we also had two servings of duck mung bean porridge. Honestly, we were already pretty full by then, you know? But after baeksuk, it somehow doesn’t feel like a complete finish if you skip the porridge~! I loved the nutty aroma rising from the warm porridge, and the mung beans made it mild and soft. After having hot duck baeksuk and mung bean porridge, I finally felt like I’d had a truly proper meal! Personally, if you’re having neungi mushroom duck baeksuk, save a little room in your stomach—the mung bean porridge is essential..!

It had been a while since the three of us had sat down for a slow meal of warm food together, and I was happy with our choice that day.

With a reservation, we could dine comfortably, and the parking, spacious restaurant, and self-service station all made it great for a family meal too *_*
