What I ordered at Hyeonseoni-ne Cheonggye Instant Branch
I ordered the Hyeonseoni-ne Combo Set at Hyeonseoni-ne Cheonggye Instant Branch (현선이네 청계즉석점). Gimbap (seaweed rice roll), tteokbokki (chewy rice cakes in spicy sauce), sundae (Korean blood sausage), fish cake and fritters all come out together, so you don't have to puzzle over the menu and still get a generous spread. That was my favorite thing about it.

I had been craving Korean snack food in Suwon's Cheonggye-dong, so I came here. It had been a while since I'd had a variety of snacks all at once, so I went for the Hyeonseoni-ne Combo Set.

A full table from one combo set: fine to come alone?
The food came out fairly quickly, and the table loaded with dishes looked satisfying just to look at. Since everything arrives as one set, I think it works fine for a solo visit, and it is also a good size to share with friends or family.

The tteokbokki and its sauce
I tried the tteokbokki first. The rice cakes were nicely chewy, and the sauce balanced spicy and sweet. It wasn't just aggressively hot; it was the kind you keep reaching for, so after one rice cake I naturally picked up the next. The sauce was generous too, which made it great for dipping the fritters and sundae.

Gimbap dipped in the tteokbokki sauce
The gimbap was satisfying too. It was packed with fillings, and the ratio of rice to filling was right, so every bite felt balanced. Dipped lightly in the tteokbokki sauce it tasted even better, with that familiar snack-bar charm fully intact.

Sundae and fish cake broth
The sundae was clean, with no off smell, and pleasantly chewy. It was good with the salt served alongside, and dipped in the tteokbokki sauce it had a different appeal. The portion was not skimpy either, so the combo set alone gave me plenty of variety.

The broth of the fish cake (odeng) really stood out. It was clear and refreshing, great alongside the spicy tteokbokki, and sipping it between bites cleaned my palate. The fish cake itself was springy and easy to enjoy, and everything went well together.

Did the fritters stay crisp to the end?
The fritters stayed nicely crisp. Crunchy outside and moist inside, they were good plain and even more satisfying dipped in the tteokbokki sauce. There was no heavy oil smell, so I could enjoy them to the end, and I liked that the crunch lasted.

The Hyeonseoni-ne Combo Set: when I'd recommend it
Overall, the biggest strength of the combo set is tasting many dishes at once. Ordering just one item can leave you wanting more, but with gimbap, tteokbokki, sundae, fish cake and fritters all together, I was very satisfied. The portion is on the generous side, so it makes a filling meal, and the lineup felt good value for the price.
The shop was kept clean so I could eat comfortably, and the staff were friendly, so I finished the meal in a good mood. The food was also served neatly, which made it an even more enjoyable time.
If you crave Korean snack food and want a variety in one go, I recommend the Hyeonseoni-ne Combo Set at Hyeonseoni-ne Cheonggye Instant Branch. The sweet-and-spicy tteokbokki, hearty gimbap, chewy sundae, refreshing fish cake broth and crispy fritters all worked; nothing disappointed. The flavors were well balanced so I enjoyed it to the last bite, and I'd happily come back to try other menu items.
