Why Olheun Gogi for a late dinner after the competition

Last week my boyfriend's competition ended, and the three of us, him, me and another person who competed with him, were all starving and wanted something delicious. While searching, Olheun Gogi Suwon Main Branch jumped out: big restaurant, lots of people, good reviews, haha. So we said "this is the one!" and went, and wow... what a good choice.

We went fairly late in the evening and there were still quite a few people, so I wondered, "Oh? Is there a hidden gem that only I didn't know about?" And yes, exactly... why didn't I know about this place until now? If you want BBQ in Yeongtong or Mangpo, Olheun Gogi is the top.

There were three of us, so we had the Olheun pork set (옳은 돼지 한상). The portion is really generous, and even though it's pork, the quality is so good. It's delicious, of course, but the restaurant is also spacious and the staff are kind! I have nothing but praise...

How many people can the group rooms at Olheun Gogi Suwon Main Branch hold?

Olheun Gogi Suwon Main Branch has neat group rooms for 12–14 people and for 30 people. If you reserve by phone in advance, they'll secure a group room for you, so keep that in mind!

Wow... they also showed us the group rooms that work as company dinner spaces. For year-end and New Year parties, and for regular work dinners and get-togethers, it's perfect for gathering cozily over good meat :)

What comes in the Olheun pork set?

The Olheun pork set we ordered at Olheun Gogi is a seriously generous spread: an assortment of pork belly, pork neck and loin cap, plus grilling cheese, steamed egg and even yukhoe (Korean beef tartare)! It's sized for 3–4 people, so the three of us ate plenty, and even as a set menu it came out generously and neatly.

Next time I'll earn more prize money... and we'll have the beef set! Haha. The menu is varied, so you can enjoy beef or pork depending on your taste.

Side dishes and service

The side dishes at Olheun Gogi Suwon Main Branch come out neatly, and if you ask, they bring lettuce and other vegetables too! When we asked for extra food, they brought it kindly, haha.

The tuna that came out first was warm and soothing on the stomach and tasty, and I liked that they grilled the meat for us from start to finish and the food came out quickly.

At Olheun Gogi, the staff grilled the pork belly, neck and loin cap in that order, skillfully. They grilled mushrooms, onions and kabocha squash alongside, so it was easy to wrap the meat with all kinds of vegetables and I never got tired of it.

Ohoh, look at the color of that meat, right? Haha. They grilled the golden-brown meat perfectly, and with the yukhoe and steamed egg coming out in between, it never got boring. It's great with drinks, and also if you order rice partway through!

How was the yukhoe in the Olheun pork set?

The yukhoe in the Olheun pork set was glossy and plentiful, and it wasn't frozen meat, so it melted in the mouth. Hehe... amazing, right.. hahaha. It's so good, T_T The Asian pear was cut prettily too, and when you break the yolk and mix it in, ahh~

Just looking at it makes your mouth water, right? Haha. I want to eat it again,, the meat is tender and the portion is generous. If you go to Olheun Gogi, definitely try the yukhoe!

You can feel how delicious it is even from the photos.. The meat is great and they even grill it for you! They grill and cut it just right, so we didn't have to think about the meat at all, just chatted among ourselves and ate comfortably.

I want to go eat again.. it's proper body-fuel food, haha. Hehe, next time I will definitely go for the beef,,!

A pork belly lover's take on the pork belly and steamed egg

I really love pork belly, and I can tell a good pork belly place from a single bite. The pork belly at Olheun Gogi is truly amazing, I could only marvel, haha. They grilled the mushrooms and vegetables well too, so I ate everything golden and dripping with fat.. putting oil in my body makes me so happy,,,

The steamed egg (gyeran-jjim) was seasoned just right too, so good that the steamed egg alone could carry a whole bottle of soju, haha. The portion is generous, and it pairs well with the meat.. I'm curious about the recipe..

Grilling cheese

The Olheun pork set also comes with grilling cheese, which you can eat with the meat, and even the cheese by itself is nutty and tasty, haha.

Finishing with cold noodles

After filling our bellies at Olheun Gogi Suwon Main Branch, we finished off with refreshing naengmyeon (cold noodles)~~! The finish is always cold noodles, right, haha. Lots of BBQ places have surprisingly bad naengmyeon, but the one here is really good, so I was moved and amazed right to the end..
